Just updated to the "new" patch of Windows 10. It appears to either change the machine name for Waveform registration, or blows away where the registration is stored.
Now, will this effectively chew up one of the available Waveform licenses? Would one be in trouble if you had a Windows 10 desktop and laptop?

Doesn't the message mention that one has used up all one's lives? Support will reset things at their end so you can start your registering again. Once that's done, you'll get to do two registrations and if you try more than two within days of a reset, the glue comes out of your hardware interfaces and all the molecules fall in a heap on the floor, before a window mysteriously opens and an unexpected whirlwind scatters the pile of molecules out into the universe.
That's what I heard, anyway.

Oh dear. There is a logfile, which you can access via the Help button in the lowerish leftish corner. That can help support sort your problem. You can send it, along with details, to support@tracktion.com, or, if you look on the website, there's a way on there to register problems. It may give you some sort of reference number too.
It might be worth your while searching on the forum to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. I put my machine specs on my KVR signature so that people can see what system, etc, I have in case they can help. Saves me having to remember.
Worth mentioning that a significant proportion of problems are due to plug-in problems. Waveform seems to be more strict about VST standards than many other DAWs and plug-in authors.

that sounds like one of the copyrights to LHA or PKZIP from years ago. Winged monkeys and demons from hell ?
Actually, I didn't run into the problem - I only have one running Windows 10 (laptop has 8.1); it must have been long enough ago and I actually had no issues - just surprised that the registration got "lost".
