I must be the only one who doesn't like the sound this thing has. A friend bought it some time ago and made me aware of it, we both are seeking for maximum sound quality. She didn't used it much and didn't know if she could recommend it, so now I demoed it. I couldn't get a good sounding setting with it. Everything started to get a bit 'smeared' and liveless. You can make some radical edits with it but I can get there with other tools too and in higher sound quality (Sonnox, TDR, Zynaptiq etc.). What frei:raum does to high frequencies and the overall sound signature is not to my liking.

It depends what you are using it for and on. What are you using it for and on?dreamvoid wrote:I must be the only one who doesn't like the sound this thing has. I tried it on drum grooves and final stereo mixdowns done by myself. It shouldn't "depend" with a good tool when it comes to general sound quality. Monitoring was done thru ADAM S3A with a high end DAC. My feeling is that it even does a little something in 'default'. Do a plug in (real) bypass with your DAW and listen carefully. But at least when it comes to processing frei:raum starts to cover a veil to the audio - it does heavy processing but not in a way I would describe as clarity. I wasn't biased towards this tool as I would have welcomed something to speed up workflows.plexuss wrote: It depends what you are using it for and on. What are you using it for and on?

interesting, my room is sadly not well to judge something like this, i would be interested in more opinions!dreamvoid wrote:I tried it on drum grooves and final stereo mixdowns done by myself. I did a phase inversion with frei:reum and it summed to zero.dreamvoid wrote:My feeling is that it even does a little something in 'default'.

For those who own it, do you need to be on the internet to use it? It seems to check license information online when loading the trial, and I normally work with networked sample computers with take up my Ethernet ports = no online ability. Does it have to call home everytime, when registered, or is this just for the demo?

Edit: I just tried it for myself and frei:raum doesn't null ... will post screenshots in a following post

You're wrong as it seems, it doesn't null. I just checked it with a white noise sample and some grooves. On my flux analyser I can see always something going on ...yellowmix wrote:I did a phase inversion with frei:reum and it summed to zero.dreamvoid wrote:My feeling is that it even does a little something in 'default'.
