Vicky here from Nektars management and label eclecticdiscs (www.eclecticdiscs.com (http://www.eclecticdiscs.com)) Glad you like the new track-its probably the most commercial sounding track, which is why we used it. We also had the Caravan track and Woolly Wolstenholme track on that covermount.

A few of you have mentioned about seeing Nektar and thought I would mention that they are starting their US tour this week as a double bill with Caravan. Dates are as per the website www.nektarmusic.co.uk (http://www.nektarmusic.co.uk) but are east coast and mid west.

Im not keen on spamming general boards but am happy for partisan people to spread the word, so if you can find an appropriate thread on here then please feel free.

As a label we specialise in 60/70's remasters and particularly high quality SACD with lots of great mentions in the hi-fi press so some of you may be interested in our output.

Just back from the cottage and whats this ,,people talking about Nektar.
I posted a couple of times on the subject before with narry a reply,,oh well,,I guess I'm just not in the clique yet.
As probably the first North American fan,I still have the German releases of Live at the RoundHouse and Journey to the Centre of the Eye,both ordered from a European catalogue for big bucks at that time.
Seen all the tours,,but to see Roye T's epiphone hammering out the song 1-2-3-4 again,, I'll die with a smile for sure...

Yeah, the rest of that sampler CD's pretty cool too - with the notable exeption of Asia. What on earth are they doing on there?

I don't know how you heard about this thread, or even if you'll be back but I was checking the tour dates on the site and noticed that they were all US dates.
Any danger of a UK tour? Pretty please?

Preferably with Manchester as one of the dates.

That would be beyond cool.

Dunno about this clique thing you refer to.

Personally I just didn't see your Nektar threads and if I had, I would have posted since, to me, they're one of the ultimate prog bands.

I'm just amazed to find that so many other people are into this 'well kept secret' of a band.

But if there is a clique going down (which there isn't), then welcome to it.

Not the rite choice of words Glassback,,just got a little too excited a this possibility..
Its a real loss not to see Mo Moore with the guys,because when I got to meet him in Toronto I thought at the time ,playing live ,[not studio] Roye T and Mo Moore were the BEST guitar , bass duo on the planet.
I wonder if Mick Brockett is still around?
How bout the London RoundHouse,is that still standing?

Having just done a bit of research, Mick Brockett was doing the lights on the 2002 tour, but I can't seem to find any more recent reference to him.
Is he with them on the new tour?

The original release of Live at the Roundhouse has a great photo inside of them playing in front of Mick's lights there.The place looks very cool.Their first North American tour looked just like that.
At one point a bi-plane was flying seemingly over their heads and crashing as the band bit down hard,,just blew us away....

It's pretty interactive.

We did have Toronto on the agenda by the way and had sold a fair few tix but cancelled as were offered a promoted and paid for show at Shank Hall-milwaukee the night before and as we are promoting a fair few ourselves could do without any more risk. Problem is in Canada you have to charge a lowish amount.

Mick did the shows last year but its way too expensive to take the full light show on the road and many venues dont let you use your own guy etc especially now in the USA. We are using Pete Lango however just for the mood lighting who has been with the band since the 70's.

We did a london show in 2003 and in London in June this year-but to be honest the band dont draw enough in the Uk to make eny more than an odd date viable.

We are pretty active with our fanbase of all the bands we deal with and have a forum at yahoo dedicated to "Nektarines"

In fact the girl who is merching for us in the USA, has a badge saying "Im not Vicky"!!

Thanks everso for the heads-up there, seamonkey.

That was 90 minutes of sheer bliss.
You're right - Roye's voice has lost nothing - in fact all of them are just spot on still.
And yes, if you shut your eyes, it's the original Nektar.
Awesome live versions of some of their bestest trax - surprisingly, the low point for me was Recycled.
Great that they played the whole suite (I mean all of side 1) but when it started, it seemed to be a bit weak... lacking something.
But it was only that vocal part - the same when it returns a short while later. They just seemed to have lost it for a few minutes. The rest of the suite was fantabulous though.
Maybe I just had unreasonably high expectations for this track since it's absolutely my fave Nektar album / track / cover.

In any case - WOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!

AND - you get the original King Of Twilight as a bonus track.

But did you notice how Mo Moore looked remarkably like Edgar Froese these days?

Totally bizarre that they're such huge business in the States but relatively unknown over here.
It's usually the other way around.

People work their ASSES off to break the States.

Time for a UK Nektar revival methinks.
If only these Brits knew what they were missing.
I wish I had an nth of any one of their talent - let alone their combined wealth of talent.
