Their 'Levels' is similar. You can tweak the defaults to make it more lenient. It's only a guide anyway.

I had the same impression. If professional club tunes do not pass the club setting, it’s utility is limited imho.

Anyone else not impressed by his one ?
I've tried it out with a whole bunch of professionally mastered (rock and metal) mixes that I really like and it was showing red all over !
And btw.: "...As a default, you will be able to access ... on one computer. ..." WTF ? Just 1 ??? What about people with a laptop + studio PC ? Pretty much everyone allows that. :?

Shouldn't a plugin aiming at not so experienced mixers at least have a preset for a normal Rock/Metal mix (or other genres for that matter) right from the start and without the user having to tinker around with settings ?

I'm like Mister Wonderful on the Shark Tank, I don't get very excited about a 15% discount. There are some exceptions, but you have to be in that class of OMG I MUST HAVE THIS software. Those players are VERY VERY rare and nothing by Uhe qualifies, and I love Uhe software so that's not a criticism.
I think I’d disagree on that. Even in the FS forum, you’re pretty lucky to get more than 25-30% off the u-he prices. Their software holds value.
Um so how is that any different than what I just said? Get the coupon, hold on to it, and buy the Uhe product later when there aren't better deals competing for your money. Sorry kids, during Black Friday season if you don't offer sales then you to to the back of the line. You might get fed later after the sale season is over with.

I think that you'll find that most bargain hunters ABSOLUTELY agree with that. Black Friday is not the time to buy Uhe software.
I guess I just misunderstood you previous post as saying u-he wasn’t worth buying at 15% off. I agree that it’s best to wait until BF is over. :)

Yes, that's all that I was saying. During the Black Friday season you should just ignore vendors like Uhe and Steinberg who don't really play the game and at this time of the year 15% isn't a competitive discount.

FWIW, the best time to buy Uhe software is on release. You get plenty of warning and a very nice long opportunity to demo the product. Often there's even a months long open beta period where you can use it without restriction. You should know by release whether or not you want the product and you should take advantage of that release discount, which, in my experience has been the best possible discount. Repro-1 was 30% off of the current price on release and more than 50% off from the anticipated price now that Repro-5 will be included.

I'll probably end up just giving my 15% coupon away, maybe not. I've yet to use a Uhe coupon for anything.

I think I have until December to use it, so that’s plenty of time.

I didn’t really start buying soft synths and plugins until about 6 months ago, so this u-he stuff is all new to me. :hihi:

Given vat and reseller discounts, I don't think I'd have had a use for the coupon either, other than for The Dark Zebra which I couldn't find being sold anywhere else other than u-he direct.

Yeah, on a $200 synth you get $30 off and then $34 added for VAT, but then I guess Uhe aren't exactly trying to market themselves as "impulse buy" synths but serious investments, which is annoying to cheapskates like myself naturally

ran a download of a 128kps mp3 from a track i wrote in 2002 and it passed all blue on the mastering one.

The whole track sounded like shit.

From what I have heard so far, it's crazingly good. It just headed on the top of my must-buy list.

I have yet to check out this app but I would expect most commercial club music or commercial music in general (what with the Loudness War still going strong) to fail with super low dynamic range, clipping, ISPs galore etc.

That wouldn't necessarily mean that the app is doing it wrong.
