I would normally agree but this app appears to be unbelievably picky. And sure, you can create your own settings but that defeats the purpose a bit. Without giving guidance on how something compares to other tracks within an actual professional context it is more or less only a metering app. And there are many much more advanced plugins much better suited for that purpose.MogwaiBoy wrote:I have yet to check out this app but I would expect most commercial club music or commercial music in general (what with the Loudness War still going strong) to fail with super low dynamic range, clipping, ISPs galore etc.mgw38 wrote:I had the same impression. If professional club tunes do not pass the club setting, it’s utility is limited imho.
That wouldn't necessarily mean that the app is doing it wrong.

+1
And FYI:
On their web site it shows a full 5 star rating by 13 users.
It happens that I have rated it 2 stars (+ a review) yesterday with my review and rating NOT showing up in their listing.
A 5 star rating given today is listed though. ... I wonder what that implies

guess so, too. Checked several "club" tunes, which had +1db ISPs. Then compared to my own mastered tracks using Limitless ISP protection - my tracks were passing.MogwaiBoy wrote: That wouldn't necessarily mean that the app is doing it wrong.
I also find it quite helpful to see the accumulated stereo spread and phase correlation. For ~10 € this is a handy tool I guess, for me at least.
Can you name a metering app which does accumulated metering across a whole track in comparison to others?mgw38 wrote: I would normally agree but this app appears to be unbelievably picky. I am not a pro and it could very well be that I am missing something here. But there seems to be something inherently wrong with using the term “accumulated metering” in the context of music.

i am neither a pro, but you called it a metering appmgw38 wrote:I am not a pro and it could very well be that I am missing something here. But there seems to be something inherently wrong with using the term “accumulated metering” in the context of music.
no idea how it should be called, but definitely not metering i guess since as you say metering is momentarily. maybe it's rightly called an analyzer, problem detector and possible solution giver

Zebra is $179 at AudioDeluxe without having to pay VAT, since they're US-based. So those resellers are definitely a better option for us who live in the EU.shonky wrote:Yeah, on a $200 synth you get $30 off and then $34 added for VAT, but then I guess Uhe aren't exactly trying to market themselves as "impulse buy" synths but serious investments, which is annoying to cheapskates like myself naturallyOneOfManyPauls wrote:Given vat and reseller discounts, I don't think I'd have had a use for the coupon either, other than for The Dark Zebra which I couldn't find being sold anywhere else other than u-he direct.ghettosynth wrote:I'll probably end up just giving my 15% coupon away, maybe not. I take it you're talking about Zebra 2, not The Dark Zebra add-on.Acknowledgement wrote:It's $179 at AudioDeluxe without having to pay VAT, since they're US-based.
I bought zebra2 from jrrshop for $167 using the BENNY16 discount code (same 16% as GROUP). The Dark Zebra I got from u-he direct as they seem to be the only seller. I used their 15% survey voucher, but had to pay VAT - so came to approx $87 USD.

I am not really saying it is a useless app. I will probably even pick it up given its price. And the comparison does have some value. It is just that the red/green thingy is supposed to tell you about quality. That's the way they positioned that app. At the same most professional tracks that people perceive to be of high quality do not pass that test. So, what problems is it detecting exactly? Certainly not the ones that prevent people from getting into the charts.
Edit: btw, Harrisson Mixbus gives you a very nice and detailed analysis every time you bounce a track.

Hehe, it surely can't detect if it's a well arranged track or an original one.mgw38 wrote: So, what problems is it detecting exactly? Certainly not the ones that prevent people from getting into the charts.![]()
It can detect though if you have Peak clipping, mixing issues (e.g. mono compatibility), less dynamic range (less punchy, destroyed transients) and some more. Of course you would not notice that as an enduser directly, but it can lead to problems like sounding totally different on a mono speaker (smart phone, dual mono club PA - many of them are, through super market speakers). All these problems passively play into a good produced/mastered/mixed track which in the end *can* affect success (even at the charts)

That's what i've been waiting for.
Now come on Greg of Kush Audio, announce yer Black Friday Sale on Novatron

Looking at these two, they seems to be "somewhat" similar. Anyone have any thoughts (of course someone here will
)

When upgrading to the AIR AIP3 Complete do you get separate serials for each product?
(the reason I ask is because I have quite a few of their plugins already so would want to sell the licences for those I already own)

AFAIK you do not. You get a single auth code for the bundle. That's how mine shows up in ilok. However, IIRC, you do not have to give up the license for whatever product you used to upgrade. I still have my XPand2 license. Don't quote me on that, I might have had more than one XPand2 license to begin with, but I don't think so.VariKusBrainZ wrote:When upgrading to the AIR AIP3 Complete do you get separate serials for each product?
