Sh-101 options?

How is it on resource consumption? Not that I'm up for even $130. Honestly I could get the sound of it pretty easily, I'm just wanting the GUI and limited controls for nostalgia and to basically lock in that sound no matter how much you tweak parameters. It does seem Tal fits my needs the most. But is still like talking about it all. I might give the Roland Cloud thing a go at some point, once I know I'll be able to commit for a whole year.

Someone mentioned Strobe 2 is also a 101 synth. Any others?

LuSH-101 is the thing for me, instant vintage vibes.
And no, I'm not going to discuss if it's perfect emulation of anything or not, it just fits the sound of classic analog synths from 80s.

Tal Baseline 101 has long been the main contender and easy on the resources, D16 LUsh is also good but is a 101 on steroids and needs a bit more CPU
Did you check out the Roland GUIs, theyre fine if your screen resolution is from last century and they use more CPU than similar synths

I'd agree with that someone, at least Strobe 1 was capable of nailing the Sh-101 sound.braj wrote:Someone mentioned Strobe 2 is also a 101 synth. Any others?
Here's a few demos I made when I had a real SH-101 next to me, I made a patch on the hardware SH-101 and then tried to recreate it in Strobe 1, but I'd imagine Strobe 2 can do the same:
101 Psy saw1
101 Hi Res Growl
101 Nasal
101 House bounce
101 PWM Synth

Soundwise xoxos BONG sounds pretty close to a DR-110. But no stepsequencer and no fancy lcd Screen plus it is 32 bit only. Still the only drum machine I use.braj wrote:Anyone know if there is a dr110 emulator, I want the full nostalgic setup that was my rig way back when, with a Yamaha organ run through a Boss flanger as my lead instrument. I want that little lcd screen redone. It was an awesome little battery powered system, going through a 4x1 boss mixer to an old boombox. The early 80s were great. All cv right before midi hit.

I suggest following them on Twitter. Last Black Friday, they had a one day sale of 30% off, but only announced it via Twitter. It never made the Black Friday list here because it was only announced there. I suspect that probably very few people took advantage of it.

I have a Lush-101 license that I'm willing to transfer for $50. Its a great synth but I don't use it since I have too many synths currently. If you're interested let me know.braj wrote:What are the best options for sh-101 emulations? I owned one way back when they came out and want something for nostalgia as much as anything. What plugin gives the most of its essence?

I was comparing strobe to tal bassline and could not get many of the classic oscillator sounds from the mixed waveforms quite right, especially at lower registers. So for me strobe doesn’t cut it, but like I said the Reaktor block nails it.braj wrote:Someone mentioned Strobe 2 is also a 101 synth. Any others?

Thanks, but I think I've settled on TAL, so if anyone else wants it, they aren't stepping on my toesDocShay wrote:I have a Lush-101 license that I'm willing to transfer for $50. Anyone with a TAL Bassline license, I've got $30 for you.

To nail the '101' sounds in Strobe 1 I had to use its sub oscillators. The main oscillator with the two waveforms does not get the 101 sound. Strange but true. So I wonder if the same applies to Strobe 2 - I haven't tried to use it yet to emulate the Sh-101, but I would recommend anyone using it to only focus on the sub-oscillator and treat it as the main oscillator when making SH-101 sounds.Echoes in the Attic wrote:I was comparing strobe to tal bassline and could not get many of the classic oscillator sounds from the mixed waveforms quite right, especially at lower registers.
