A ReprOctave collection comprising the Cat and the Voyetra-8 (mono and poly as repro-1 and 5) wuld be wonderfull. Lets pray!ghettosynth wrote:Do you own a Cat? The thing that's interesting with the Cat is that it is, AFAIK, one of only two non-modular monosynths with a 2040 based VCF. the other being the RSF Kobol. What would be gained from modeling the CAT, other than a cool as f**k odyssey like synth, would be a good model of the 2040 which would, IMNSHO, be great in Diva and/or ACE/SuperACE2000, or whatever it ends up getting called. The Cat is probably my favorite monosynth. In my opinion there's nothing as cool as FM modulation of a 2040 in software ATM.DuX wrote:Does everybody thinks the Cat SMR II is really worth emulating? You must be kidding me. It's just another standard 2 oscillator thingie. Booooooooooooooooooring.
I'm not a purist. I would love to see this Repro kind of pairing done again with the CAT. A mono/poly bundle, price at $149 out of the gate if you must, where the monosynth really pushes the boundaries and the poly variant gives people something that never existed.

The future is both, because there's a market for both. RePro is mainly about focusing on a specific synth from the past (and sounds great in the process) but everything that U-He are learning along the way will go into the next generation of their flagship monster synth Zebra. So the one you want to watch out for will be Zebra 3DuX wrote: Enough of 2-osc analogue emulations with restrictive modulations, please! Take a look at modular synths - that's the future. No, but Cat SRM isDuX wrote:Does everybody thinks the Cat SMR II is really worth emulating?
Our concept for the Cat emulation was always based on the idea of adding all factory upgrades, which included a lot of patch points. And if we have patch points, we can add things to patch them through. In that respect, our Cat emulation would have been (and maybe will be) a modular synth plug-in.

The 'pro1' part of repro1 is from the pro1 its emulating (and repro is short for reproduction)
Octave is the company name, so it would not be called 'reproctave' as its not specific to the model
recat maybe, but that sounds pretty stupid

Yes, take my money too for this! You got me at the word modular.ghettosynth wrote:Take my money!Urs wrote:No, but Cat SRM isDuX wrote:Does everybody thinks the Cat SMR II is really worth emulating?![]()

I hope one day the big masterplan is that Berlin Modular is U-he´s kind of better Reaktor and then all U-he synths are modules

But I want Wifi connections between the modules. Cables are 2005.Cinebient wrote:Yes, take my money too for this! You got me at the word modular.

Virtual cables are fine until we reach the next step of wireless connection.
Maybe in 20 years. The same as bluetooth, still sucks in most cases.

But that's just the SRM II, so the third revision. The second revision (SRM without any II) is the one IMHO that owns both the original Cat and the SRM II. The original Cat has a lot of personality, but also a bit of a cheap smell, whereas the SRM II is a tad overly polished with the typical moogy SSM 2044 sound. The SRM otoh...spunkmuffin wrote:^^ For anyone who hasn't heard the CAT ^^spunkmuffin wrote:
