Strobe II is great and so is LuSH.

Nothing nails the 101 like the Roland's own virtual version of course. The TAL doesn't have the low end it does.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

I have a Lush-101 license that I'm willing to transfer for $50. Its a great synth but I don't use it since I have too many synths currently. If you're interested let me know.
Hey DocShay, I sent you a PM, if you still have Lush available I'll happily take it :) Instead of going back to 1983, I think it would be good to go back to an alternate 1983.

I really liked Bassline, but damn, Lush is much more than my old SH-101 ever was. It is close enough that I can program it nearly from muscle memory, that SH-101 had no memory, I learned off those old patch sheets, it was a great first synth. I wish Roland would have released a real SH-101 reissue, I would have saved my pennies and bought one. But wow, especially for $60, DocShay really set me up good.

to me SH-101 doesnt sound anything special, a bit of characterless synth. If for nostalgia imo its better to save up (or take credit) and buy a Boutique version, its very cheap.

https://www.roland.com/global/products/sh-01a/

If not just rather go with U-He Hive and bunch of freeware Roland-like presets (or even free U-He Tyrell N6). SH is a charaterless synth anyway.

And its just my opinion :)

Frankly, my opinion is you're nuts :x It's a party over here right now, I loved my sh-101 and I love the sound of both Tal Bassline and especially Lush. The SH-101 had loads of character, LOADS.

Not gonna argue with that, im not a keyboard player and didnt grew up in 80s, i started making music in 2005 and straight from electronic dance music :) as for now im just sharing my opinion coming from expierience as music producer opinion, because its just very simple synth and with fixed parameters you can recreate same sounding patches, for the rest who has a little more "cream" on filter is more of a nitpicking :) sure some synths do have own character that in the end of the sound even with bunch of FX added (distoriton, eq, limiting, comp ect) just sounds different :)

There is beauty in simplicity and Lush 101 is exactly perfect for me, it has enough depth through layers as any synth I'll ever need. My first patch had me swooning, and the synth maintains the overall simple and elegant approch of the original. And I got it for peanuts, which is exactly perfect for my budget. I'm really in love with this thing.
