Certainly not the ones that prevent people from getting into the charts.
Anyway, the point of Expose is to warn you when you’ve crossed Generally Accepted Audio Principles (GAAP) but you can still choose to do it. Bach sometimes composed with Parallel 5ths, rules can be broken when you’re either very good or very lucky.

I am actually warming up to the Expose app (bought it from JRR, of course
). I just remastered a couple of my tracks and the comparison feature is indeed handy for getting consistency. Much of the stuff I listen to (and some that I make) breaks the loudness range limits though. But after doing some reading that does not seem to be uncommon in loop based music.

Not quite the same thing, but I find it incredibly insightful to load up a bunch of tracks in RX, which does give you the full amplitude of the entire spectrum across the entire track, and can do a loudness analysis.dermage wrote:

Expose - Exposed
I loaded 12 commercial songs. some ripped from my CD collection... some purchased on itunes. I loaded them into expose and used several settings. Every one of them flagged red in places , most across 3 or 4 indicators. Some of the tunes are classics. To go in to your own material and then randomly decide which elements need to be addressed and which ones can remain seems arbitrary at best. No, a huge big pass for me.

+1 iZotope RX is my favourite for offline analysis. Select an area of the track and you get a pretty instant read out on RMS/LUFS averages, peaks/ISPs, loudness range etc - and the frequency analzer is similarly quick and useful. Plus the app does beautiful cosine shaped fades and has great samplerate conversion and dithering.. so it's a good "finalizer" for self-mastering.

I also find that it can help me determine how boring my song is going to be. If I open up really good songs, you can typically see subtle sweeps and modulations, light and dark areas, build ups, etc. Seeing the dynamics over the entire range of the song is fascinating.MogwaiBoy wrote:+1 iZotope RX is my favourite for offline analysis. If the song is not boring, a happy face appears to the analyzer app window.

Anybody has experience with GUI that can suggest me wich course would be best for a begginer at Udemy ?
It's just as a hobby for now. What I'm having fun with mostly is theming in Reaper now with Gimp and Inkscape but maybe I'll have to learn Photoshop if it's easier/better.
Only 2h40 left for the deals!

Lots of udemy courses marked down to 10€ (don't know about USD) until Monday.
Some very interesting stuff there if you're into programming, playing instruments, recording/producing, design, marketing and all that stuff. Just make sure you understand the instructors by watching the demo videos, and read through the ratings and course outlines first.

For visual/graphic design, lynda.com or digitaltutors.com (now pluralsight.com) generally have better courses (and are also a lot cheaper).

LOL! I went to look for mine and realized that zeroG had given up on me and had stopped sending emails back in July of this year. So, rest assured, they will eventually give up on you if you don't buy anything from them, it only took about seven years and well over 1000 emails.Tappistry wrote:Sign up for their newsletter. Orban Loudness Meter and it's free. Also, Cubase, "Audio->Statistics." Select more than one track if you want to see more than one evaluation at the same time.

yeah you know that is why I didn't get it. I had to take myself off their mailing list. It was just too much if I remember right.
