I agree that there is a strong similarity between them... but there are significant differences too.

RePro-5 has unison and since you can use voices as a modulator, you can for example set each voice with a different filter cutoff... It also has an Osc model that RePro-1 does not have. There are also envelope differences between them... and of course there is polyphony. RePro-5 has the per voice distortion and 'Velvet'.
I know all that, thats why i said 'core sound'. None of the other stuff changes that. All nice additions, but the 'core sound' is the same.
So its like you say my serge NTO oscillator is sounding the same alone, thru their built-in waveshapers, thru wavemultiplier and thru Triple wavefolder modules because the "core" sound is the same... absurd...

Post

No, its not like that. Not even close.

The pro5 osc/filter isnt going thru built-in waveshapers, thru wavemultiplier and thru Triple wavefolder modules.

Try learning to read.

The point was, and still is, for all the impatient ppl, if you want to know what pro5 sounds like, try pro1. The core sound is the same.

No, is not like you say, not even close. There are sonic diferences, enought for not being similar as others pointed to you with facts. Actually, fx change the sound a lot; even Repro-1 have a waveshaper (!!!) that repro-5 don´t have and Repro-5 have non-linear procesing that repro-1 don´t have. And on top of that there is unison, voice pan different modulations that at audio rate are in fact waveshapers too...
Try learning to stand corrected, thats not a bad thing

Post

Gain staging is also different between the two, so no, the core sound is NOT the same. It's close, but NOT the same.

None of those ARE the core sound. They AFFECT the core sound.

Try learning anything, please...

Hmm, the ref files i have sound the same.

Im going with the same.

( 'the same' measurement im using, is also the one devs use to measure hardware/software)

It doesn't matter either way so let's have a duel of sound once it comes out and avoid the pistols at dawn and that sort of thing.

I tweaked EQ on a mix for an hour and a half once before realizing it was bypassed -_-

And I can never get the same sound twice out of any of my guitar amps.

So much of what we hear is subjective, influenced by our mind and brain and emotions.

So make nicey-nice.

I have enought of this with my 9 and 5 years old children, your arrogancy scratch the idioticy...
We are not speaking about core or not core, we speak about you telling both repro-1 ansd repro-5 sound the same. All AFFECT sound (whats the core sound BTW??? the raw core osc without waveshaping, the entire audio path right to the VCA?? just the osc and filter???) we speak of the AFFECTED sound, because thats what you hear when try repro-1 or 5. Seem you try desperately to get sideways to not to hurt your ego. Again, try learning that a mkstake is not a bad thing

I`m sure you have something better to do that fighting in a random forum defending an incoherent and simplistic position. Please go ahead and lets keep the thread clean...

A lie of course, but it's one of those apocryphal kind of stories that helps to underscore the point :P

Actually, the core sound is not the same for the people who can go try RePro-1 now. RePro-5 has different Osc and Filter models than RePro-1. The RePro-1 update (not yet public) includes the Re-Pro5 filter and 1 of the 2 RePro-5 Osc models. RePro-5 includes the RePro-1 models too.

So for people who only have access to the current RePro-1, no they are not the same and depending on settings can be distinctly different.

Is there some reason you need to act like such a dick in an otherwise friendly, positive thread? Is it helping the discussion?
