If I'm using Logic Pro X with 8 cores working, should I engage Multi Core on Diva, Bazille, Repro 5 etc?
The manual is a bit vague on this, can anyone comment - Multicore or not with Logic Pro X and 8 core Mac.
TIA

So I just had another play with this, this time a bit less distractedly as I had to rush out before.

Under LPX, with multicore Off, everything is on one core and depending on presets/polyphony used, the CPU is weighed heavily and will often break up. Not a good setting for me.

With multicore On (default 4 cores), performance is indeed improved. It's not really displayed in Logic's CPU meter (you might get a tiny display on another core, that's about it) but Repro-5 is much more predictable in behaviour and doesn't seem to break up, so seems (in my quick investigation) to be perfectly usable here, which is good news!

So under Logic, do do your own tests, but it seems multicore is the recommnded way to go, unless you get other problems.

Thanks for your input beely; switching multicore on of off doesn't seem to make much difference with Logics CPU meters, they change, but not drastically; that's why I posed the question here. Going into activity monitor, you can see a slight increase in CPU usage with multicore switched on.

BTW, I recently discovered your muzines site. Great work, I plan to make a donation!

Yes, it doesn’t have much visible effect on Logic’s meters, but does on what I hear - no more running out of single core CPU and break up.
