How to create active presets?

If I've got it right I can configure my multi-parameters (and name them) so when I go out of edit mode then I have an unnamed active preset. Is it right that I cannot name my active preset so it's listed in the active presets panel?

So far so good. How do I create active presets that have no active presets shipped by default? They have no edit button, so I can never switch to easy mode.

You can't save active presets except in MXXX. Just save it as a regular preset, it work just the same.

How do I do it for eg MSpectralPan? I can save my mult-parameters and give them fancy names, yet I get no active preset.

Do active presets work only for plugins with easy modes?

Yes, that's correct. An active preset is basically just the easy screen.

Now that's clarified I want the edit button for all plugins :)

Of course it defaults to on only for plugins that ship with active presets. But IMHO it would be cool to create my own ones for plugins that don't have any.

Why? The knobs in easy mode are way easier to handle than the tiny multi-mode ones. And it remindes me of what I thought were the most important aspects of the preset.

Well, you can hack it actually :D. Just look into

C:\ProgramData\MeldaProduction
/Library/Application support/MeldaProduction/

There's bunch of "*presets.active" files, so if you make one for the plugin you want to have an easy screen, it will ;). But pst :D

Sweet :tu:

"/Library/Application Support/MeldaProduction" on OSX.

Copy your *.xml to *.active and re-save your preset(s) in non-edit e.g active mode.

The format is so straightforward that anyone who masters creating presets and is not afraid to edit an XML file is ready to go :)
