Repro 5 is really fantastic....!
I have one question/suggestion:
Is it possible to get the option of rendering offline in HQ mode, if it's turned off?
(like it's possible in Diva)

Some can. I found it strange that effects on/off isn't lockable.

Seems like 4 threads perform just as well as 8 for me.4damind wrote:What is the experience with thread count vs CPU cores? 4 threads for a i7 Quad-core or 8 threads for 8 logical cores? The default is not based on the CPU detection and is only a recommendation?
My test: MC (8 threads), HQ enabled using preset "HS Bubble Falls" (all effected enabled) holding down 8 keys (voices) at once; I consume about 6% CPU and 30% DSP.
OS: Linux (Fedora 26)
CPU: Xeon E5-2630 v4 @ 2.20GHz (10 real cores, 10 virt)
Audio I/O: RME Fireface UFX (USB2)
Tested in Bitwig 2.2.2
No performance problems above. Next up, my i7 Asus laptop .
Great synth so far!

Dumb question: why no ability to automate the effects on/off outside of the per voice distortion? Is it because there's no on/off button on the effects themselves and the order in the rack can change? It otherwise seems like a reasonable thing to be able to map.

Has the 'MPE' feature been implemented yet? It should work like the other U-HE MPE enabled synths right, in there aren't any special controls on the synth that need to be engaged? I'm having a hard time getting it to work.

@33tetragammon
Use NKS Repro 5 in maschine and Komplete Kontrol, all working fine, no bug all knobs (makros) do what they should do.
And thank you Urs and the whole U-he-team, a great and wonderful synth. And if i can have a wish, so perhaps its possible to create banknames (factory and third Party) and subbanks for the maschine and Komplete Kontrol Browser.

Thanks a lot for providing the Linux version!Urs wrote:Updated first post...
Repro V1.1 public beta Linux (VST2) Linux version has a few drawing errors in the preset browser
I just tested Repro-5 on my i3-4005U Laptop (1.7MHz 2 cores / 4 threats, 12GB RAM, SSD, Focusrite Scarlett 18i8) under openSUSE 42.3 (non-RT kernel 4.14.0-1.gab9e909, xfce) and Ardour 5.12 (ALSA) and it worked surprisingly well (considering this low end processor), using a 256 sample buffer some presets caused overruns (less likely with MC on) but most worked fine.
I couldn't identify any drawing errors whatsoever, neither in the synth GUI nor in the preset browser.
I will test tomorrow using my 4.13.10 RT kernel...
And the sound is amazing
PS: Because of your Linux support (ok, officially beta) I already enjoy Presswerk and Repro-1, and Satin is next on my list.

If you mean the FX Bypass button on the lower left corner, that one doesn't need to be locked. It's an instance parameter. This means it's setting won't be saved in the preset, only in the host project. So, switch it off and it stays off while you browse presets.zvenx wrote:I found it strange that effects on/off isn't lockable.

My expectations were really high for Repro-5. To my own surprise, Repro-5 actually exceeds my expectations! I am completely blown away! I thought the people moaning about Repro-1 being monophonic were a bit silly. All my hardware synths (Mopho and Eurorack) are monophonic, so it didn't bother me. I am happy to admit that they were right and I was wrong. Repro-5 is amazing beyond just being a polyphonic Repro-1. Releasing it really was a good decision. (I hope it rewards U-He financially. It deserves to be a huge success!)
This really is so good that it is just absolutely obvious that deciding between this and a hardware analogue synth just isn't about quality of the sound anymore. (Hardware and software each have other strengths.) As a bonus, it plays nicely with my ROLI Seaboard.
I am also amazed by the included presets! I don't think I've ever taken so immediately to so many of the included presets in a synth before. (And this includes Zebra which I think very highly of in this regard.) As much as I love Howard's work (and I really do!), I am really happy about there being two sound designers involved. The HS and the TUC presents really do complement each other nicely. HS and TUC seem to paint with subtly different colors, as it were. Nice!
The different colors for favorites will come in handy. I've only had time to properly go through brass, pads and string presets, but I have marked more than half of the presets as favorites. It would almost have been easier to mark which presets are not favorites!
Some questions about the factory library of presets:
1. I haven't been able to resist marking favorites already. Is that a wast of time? I guess all presets will be overwritten when the non-Beta release is released.
2. Am I missing something, or are these two actually the same presets with different names:
HS Profiteer
HS Deep Sleep
3. How come pizzicato presets are not in the pluck section rather than the strings section? (Thinking of TUC Pizzicato.)
4. I’m not sure I understand the point of the ”Chords” presets. Isn’t it just easier to play the chords you want? I get why they make sense on a monophonic synth like Repro-1.
Anyways, thanks to everyone at U-He for your hard work! This thing is amazing!

Who is this "The Unshushable Cockter" person? Whoever he/she is, I am loving the presets that he/she did! Nearly all my favorite R5 presets were from him/her.

Yes NI have not made this easy but it would be good if U-he could find a way to do this for exported banks (I've asked about it before myself).Myramalou wrote:@33tetragammon

In the meantime a workaround is to add a top level tag named [Library] and a second level tag named [Bankname] for all patches in a particular bank.
