But where has the Hexa gone?

After looking a bit at them again I think the second skin will be a clear winner. As Evil Dragon said it has that Virus TI look/feel. It really looks cool and inspiring.
The third one is probably a bit too analog looking with those vintage knobs - though they do look great. Also I'm not so fond of the lime green text color in the right section.

It wanted to try a new angle, but turned out to be too square.

 Sorry, best I could do. :dog:

2 and 4 are amazing. Can we have both skins as options and than we can choose under options menu which one we want to use? Both look spectacular.

All 4 of the skins look really nice.

I like #2 the best because not only does it look great but the Mod Matrix is in the center. That places it central for drag and drop modulation mapping. If I could change the color from Yellow and save the color differently each patch that would be cool!

I like #1 also except for the brightness of the blue on the sliders. The contrast in color is fine but the brightness draws my eye to it (distracting).

#3 is interesting because it looks like you can access the effects in center but also turn them on/off near the mod matrix. That seems a nice touch. It looks like the only skin that does not keep the mod matrix always visible. If that is right it makes it slightly less favored for me.

#4 is the cleanest looking of all so I would use this one also.

Very good to know that Hive will get new features! I use Hive all the time.
Any chance of an FM knob with the same sound as on a Nord Lead 2 (an emulation like Discovery Pro)?
Also it would be awesome if Hive would become a rival to the Virus TI in features and capabilities someday.
I also would choose skin 2 (with blue instead of orange) and 4.

I like #2 the best. But to me wood on Hive is just wrong. Maybe the current design has something to do with that. I can see carbon fiber or some kind of metal alloy. But not wood side panels lol. i say this even though I am aware that hives can often be found in trees...I think Hive has a futuristic almost alien/sci-fi look. The design drafts are all pretty cool actually. But to me none of them seem like Hive. I'm interested to see the other design by the third party that Urs mentioned.

It's less Borg and more Federation, without pink or yellow gimmicks. The general layout is close to the original skins, with a few controls moved around.

Progress takes some time on it, but I love it so far.

No screenshot as of yet, crucial elements are still missing.

I like # 2 except for the Grellow or Yeen or whatever that yellow/green color is called. I'd have to change that right away.

But I'm not sure I would chose any of them over the original. I'd have to see how they perform under fire. Anyway I love Hive so any updates it receives are welcome here. :tu:

In addition to more waveforms, I would also love to see user loadable wavetables and a drum sequencer with numerous drumsets and sequences.

I would say that you should take a close look at Vengeance Sound Avenger for guidance as to the direction that you should take with future versions of Hive. That synth is aimed directly at the EDM market that Hive wants to capture. :phones:
All that hive needs for completion is osc hardsync and the ability to import wave tables... and fm sync :o

And almost all of those would go against the "lowest possible CPU" requirement of Hive.

Check cm zebra for hard sync referance.. and it is as light as a feather!!... is Sylenth still the master in the Park?? :D

Sylenth definitely has the most CPU saving and completely aliasing free oscillator sync ever.

(last time I checked it simply had none...)

Post

No.. no osc sync.. but this is a chance!! Urs you are one step ahead of the crowd!

I have Hive and Sylenth..and they are different synths for differant Applications! ! And I enjoy the differant sound palettes they both offer! 8)
