Huh - where is Arp / Seq in the NKS universe, Mario? Presumably another field?

That is a Mode, not Type.

If u-he is going for NKS compatibility, these main category tags should be respected, when possible. Simple as that. Don't care about how "comfortable" somebody is about a certain category being main or not.
Hmm well the NKS list looks like it was designed for sample libraries. But for u-he we are using synths (and stuff). The NKS list looks like a good list for sample libraries. Hope I don't have to respect it in the u-he universe. :scared:

Not really - it's essentially the same list that was developed for NI Kore - which was designed for Komplete as a whole, and which back then was more synth focussed than NI's current line up.

Post

Yes really - in that list Synth Lead, Synth Misc and Synth Pad are down th bottom. Come off it! That is so sub-optimal inside Repro...and we are inside Repro.
I far prefer the u-he 01, 02, 03 top ten list where you are not enslaved to the alphabet.

You're missing the point, but whatever.

I might be missing your point. I don't think I am missing the point. But whatever.

It's just alphabetical order, doesn't reflect any other priorities than trying to be neutral and comprehensive, at the time that list was developed NI wasn't so into its current sample library craze and Kore, Massive and Reaktor were very much priorities. So it was not designed mainly for sample libraries. The categories are what we were discussing, not the order they are in, which can easily be arranged differently.

Look, if you want to use the NKS list then surely there should be a way to make it optional. I personally don't want to have to see that list in my u-he synths.

Of course it's optional, you choose the categories your presets epitomise and ignore the rest. But I know already that I have a wide selection of patches in Repro 5 that could be spread over every one of those categories (apart from 'multitrack' which I never understood what it meant) so it's wise to have the options available even in a classic synth. btw just look at the Prophet 5 factory patch list ;)

They're not YOUR synths. They're u-he's. :P :hihi:

EvilDragon stop trolling me!

When u-he brings out a sample library the NKS list might be a good idea. Urs could you make a Brass library? U-he Brassy Balls and Horny Trumpets...fully NKS compatible!

NKS is not about sample libraries at all. You just keep missing the point.

Let's just say Arturia, Xils and Waldorf synths also use NKS and they also have Brass as the main category. Case closed, now get off my lawn (I do NKS integrations for living, how about you?)!

Synth Lead, Synth Misc and Synth Pad are gratuitous descriptions. I know I am in a synth! Duh!

Of course that "Synth" prefix can be omitted in u-he's browser - but when doing NKS integration of patches, u-he "Pads" tag would be linked to NKS "Synth Pad" tag as main category, etc. This is again beside the point we're making here - which is that there are some sorely missing main category tags in the current u-he browser. Yes, like "Brass", for example. :)
