Hi guys!
I have a vague idea forming for a bitwig controller script editor idea. I'm a web developer and studied graphic design, and I intend to start a web project for editing controller scripts visually without the need to know java/js programming, the plan so far is:
ability to create layers/modes ( think shift mode)
ability to add individual or groups of X amount of faders/buttons/knobs
map these inputs to UI values/functions
ability to map an output from the UI to LEDs or sysex/midi messages (device on/off, track selected, VU meter, etc)
pre made functional modules with inputs and outputs ( sequencer, grid, channel, device macros )
for the future: sync several scripts (grid in one controller syncs to mixer in other)
What other features do you think would be useful?

Absolutely a great idea! If you need any help for eg with graphic/ui design I'd be available.
About the features I think you listed pretty much most of them. I guess ideally the editor would allow to use all the features of the Bitwig API (get in contact with the developers if you haven't already, I bet they'd be interested to help with the direction and how to keep it updated with the API for eg). But yeah, premade 'flexible' modules sound good way to approach it.

Would love to see this.
Logic has a controller editor page that let's u build quite complex systems with mode changes etc. Maybe worth looking at that for some functionality ideas too.
Best

There's a variant of this for Ableton Live, but all the interesting functions are behind a paywall.
