Hi folks, two questions about RePro-5 that have arisen from my playing around with it,
1. Is it expected behavior that activating Velvet results in a noticeable gain boost, even if mode = default and Input Knob = 0 ? Not an issue if so, obviously I can offset with output or Sonic Conditioner, I just wanted to make sure this was the intended behavior of the device.
2. When using multiple voices and playing various keys, I've been watching the Voice Panners on the tweaks page. *Most* of the time, the voices progress by 1 to the right with each successive note press. However, sometimes after I've played for a while and then look at it again, they appear to be jumping around instead --not at random, necessarily, but just no longer in the left-to-right, 1 step movement as before. For instance today I somehow got to a point where all playing would reach the end and then jump to Voice 4, then to 1, progressing toward 4 again, then somewhere closer to the end, and then after 8 jump back to 4..... I couldn't figure out what I'd done to "break" the previous simple left to right voice Progression. There's probably something about Voicing I'm just not understanding here, but I'd like to have a better grasp of it, if an explanation is available....
thanks!

There was a nice Prophet VS plugin years ago: Vector Sector. It was developed by Joshua Jeffe, who was the developer of the original firmware. Somebody pulled the plug on that one as it suddenly vanished without a trace shortly before the Arturia VS was released. Though it might have been coincidence I have the gut feeling it might have been something to do with the copyright of the waveforms. When Korg bought the remains of Sequential they bought the rights as well. They obviously granted the rights to Arturia, but I'm not sure of they would do it for another vendor.Urs wrote:I missed out on one a few years ago. I wasn't ever into it that much. If you ever do it, let Joshua do the digital part and just supply the analog filter emulation. That should make for a fantastic synth. The only weak Point with Vector Sector was it's filter.

I am loving this Synth, i tested it yesterday with my real Prophet 5, and it is as good as the ¨original¨:)
The only reason to keep using the hardware Prophet 5 (besides, it is fun) is, it does not tax my CPU
Thank u U-HE for you´re high quality synth,s and making them also available on Linux!

Is the beta 100% compatible with previous versions of Repro-1?
I have a lot of projects that use Repro-1 and I just want to make sure that the new combo installer and preset system won't mess anything up when opening older projects.
Can't wait to try Repro-5! Congrats to u-he!

Nope... but Repro-1 has one.Splaaat wrote:Not sure if this has been answered before, but will there be a 'Sequencer' added to the Repro-5?

Supposedly, yes. It is a beta version though, it might contain bugs. Don't upgrade while you're in the middle of something, or at least keep backups.jackson881 wrote:Is the beta 100% compatible with previous versions of Repro-1?

Thanks, Urs. If something does get screwed up due to the beta, would simply going back to an older (pre-beta) version of Repro-1 fix it?Urs wrote:Supposedly, yes. Or is this already possible in some other way i am not seeing?
Or click on the Destination field and drag the blue gunsight thing to the lhs of the modwheel.
Will do some testing on it later today

If this quality is available in software nowadays, I'd like to add...
I love to see u-he built the CS80 & VCS3, as those two historic synths deserve to be preserved in software

Or keep the KBD amount on 75, and change the filter to Poly.
as mentioned yesterday i just started uisng Repro-5 public beta.
Soon i'll compare the patches reprogrammed in Repro-1 directly and correct where necessary. I alraedy loaded the Rpro-1 patches in Repro-5 but obviously there are differences in the synth engine that could make them sound differently in Repro-5 (differnces in modolation, filter, enveloeps etc.). Will also compare to the presets in Arturia Prophet V3. Of course as a long time user of Prophet V3 i am also interested in soud qualty differences. While reprogramming Prophet V3 patches in Repro-1 i found that Prophet V3 was not as bad as some people claimed.
In that comparison it is also necessary to switch off the effects in Repro-1/Repro-5 as those make a comparion very difficult.
UPDATE:
Just compared a Repro-1 patch loaded in Repro-5 and the indeed sound different. Obviously the filter and envelope behavior is different but that is no real surprise, at least for me.

Quoting this as one example out of many:
I totally get the enthusiasm, but I would like to do something else for now. I can't make emulations of this level when I'm not completely into it. After a year or two I need a break from it of at least the same time. I do hope that I'll find the energy to add Synthex-inspired modules to Diva next, maybe in 2019, after Zebra 3. From then on however we also have other territories to discover (think drum machine, modular stuff, hardware). Some of this stuff can happen in parallel.
Nevertheless, I would still love to do the Cat and/or a Two Voice style synth. But for that to happen I think some of my employees have to commit to such project. And I don't really want to do another vintage poly synth beyond Diva and Repro-5, at least not as of today.
There are countless vintage synths which I have collected over the years. If we need a year for each, I'll be long past my life expectancy when they're all doneSpirit2017 wrote:Prophet VS by U-he would be great.
