You can't have it with 127 values per knob.
I would also argue that 16384 isn't quite analog level of smooth either, if we are talking about high resonance slow tweaks.
And most analog to digital knob value encoders are below 2000 values.
So there’s either 0-127 or fine? Lets say I used a 14bit controller. Even then I would only get 127 steps or fine? There’s now way to have smooth filter response? :(
Don't use midi. Use a controller that controls based on automation ID, like a Nektar Panorama, Novation SL, Native Instruments Maschine/Komplete Kontrol or Ableton Push. The NI and Ableton ones are unfortunately only 8 knobs, but the Nektar and Panorama have lots more and buttons. It's two way communication, high resolution. I haven't used regular midi in about 12 years (since the original Novation SL range came out) and wouldn't go back. Though these days I'd probably buy a Nektar Panorama.
I went out and bought a BCR2000. I am able to program the encoders to transmit NPRN messages at 14-bit, but every time I perform a “MIDI Learn” it defaults to 7-bit CC. I’ve tried this in Ableton and Gig Performer. I’m completely lost at this point. If anybody here would be gracious enough to help me out a little it would be much appreciated....

If I understood it right, you want to assign a 14bit CC to a parameter inside Repro, using Repro's MIDI learn feature, correct? In this case you can find the steps how to make it work in this older post: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 8#p6525548

Well I’m able to get the full range with both CCs configured +32 apart. Unfortunately a new problem I have now is that it takes almost 15-20 turns on the BCR2000 endless encoder to go from filter completely closed to filter wide open. Anyone know of a way to reduce the turns to make a complete close to open movement without reducing the resolution?

Eeeek. That's a lot of turning. I would have expected some kind of "shift" function that temporarily changes the resolution. That's how it works on the NKS keyboards...

I'm not sure if it works as expected, but it would be a good test case since it should: What happens if you MIDI Learn one encoder and then, in the MIDI Assign Table, click the parameter and change it to "fine selected"? - It's supposed to give you fine control over the last parameter you modified (via mouse or MIDI). I have tested it for mouse, it works, but I haven't tested it for MIDI. It might not work with latter because it might clash with the mousing. But if it works, it should be cool to just use 7 bit assignments and sacrifice one knob for fine control over whatever you did last...

Oh, the other option is of course to learn filter cutoff twice on two encoders, and set one of them to "integer" mode and the other to "fine".

Post

Program the BCR knobs to use encoder acceleration, that way you can reach from min to max with a fast turn and still be able to fine tune with slow moves.
I use BC Manager to program that.

That's not something which one can change inside the MIDI learn page of our plugin.
This is a thing you have to set up inside your hardware controller (well, ideally your hardware controller would adapt itself automatically).
I have that same problem (endless turns of the knob needed to get through the whole parameter range) with the Novation keyboard I have. They have included the 14bit capability but they forgot to address this 'minor' problem. Which makes using 14bit CC mode with my keyboard absolutely useless. :(

Edit: Ah, I see you already figured it out yourself. Should have read all posts properly before posting.

About midi control: Is there a way to display the knob value when movimg knobs with MIDI CCs???

We used to do that, but it then also displayed automated parameters. This put the display in some sort of frenzy at times, so we axed it again.

I agree it should be there for MIDI Learned stuff, at least as an option. I'm not sure when we can get to it though...

Yes please...! Also would be great having a programmable "function" or shift button, so when pressing that the MIDI knob turns into a "fine" knob. Specially useful in synths like repro where you must adjut osc betings and audio rate modulation effect have a huge range in sound with small values

That's actually a good idea.

You axed a display frenzy? Cruel man!

Where is that "fine selected" parameter?? I can´t find it in the parameters list for MIDI assignments

Oi, it's been renamed to "LastClickedControl" in fresh builds, but I guess that's super new.
LastClicked.png
Which probably means it only works with last clicked control, not with last MIDI edited one, hmmm...

hmm, definitely NOT in repro-5... can you check that??
