thus the notion of an option :)

Well as I said already:

As you say the preset info can be hidden, so why not the keyboard/fx as well?

Exactly :)

The Repro-5 has a lot of good factory presets already. I've tried about half of them so far: I've marked 90% of them as favorites with a purple dot. Initially I wasn't keen on the colored dot rating system. Now I marked my "super-favorites" with an orange dot. I can live with that now that I'm getting more used to it.

Is there a way to set a default name for the Author field? I'm sick of typing my name every time I save a new patch! I seem to recall some way to do this for the other U-He synths, but I'm spacing it. I don't see anything in the Prefs page... ??

thanks!

It does look a bit like the extra functionality is crowding in on the preset list. The preset list is the core of the browser, not the extra functionality which should be secondary and subordinate. It is just starting to look a little cramped. Sorry.

The extra functions and information to the left and right and above the preset list make me feel a tiny bit stressed. A little claustrophobic. Kind of like I am trapped in a room and want to escape rather than relax and play. Just a bit. Maybe I will get to like that feeling though. Hehe.

It kind of feels like I am in the city rather than a suburb. :hihi:

I think they want to keep the keyboard so as not to alienate people who are used to the old hardware synths. If the keyboard disappears they will panic. :D

Yes, you can change default author in the Preferences txt file.

elsewhere, I wrote:Preset author defaults to the last name you used when saving a patch, but you need to start from an init preset. If you start from a preset by another author, it defaults to that author's name.

(if it doesn't work that way... must be a bug... @Tas: check that out?)

Please snip the keyboard from the browser window. The new browser system deserves more space...it is so cool!
Or make the keyboard optional in the browser with a switch. Surely that won't confuse too many people or need much extra support talk.

Yes! You have put into words exactly what I was feeling :D

I think a switch would be better than just off altogether, or set in preferences. Then it can easily be turned on and off during browsing. This would work better for users like zvenx who would like to see the FX when browsing.

Overwriting a favourited preset 'defavourites' it.

If I overwrite a favourited preset it's probably still a favourite, so I'd prefer that status to be retained.

Yes, we noticed this too a short while ago. It's a bug and on the todo list.

I was pretty sure it was working recently, I remember I was annoyed because it was using my real name in the author field all the time.
But I checked it again and there indeed is a problem.
It will work when putting a default.h2p in the local root location. So if you open a new instance, edit the preset and save it, it will show the author you used in the default preset.
It also saves the name in the preferences txt file.
But it does not work when using the new init functionality. In this case the author field will stay empty.
I'll file a ticket.
