A few things have changed with this new build:
- vst3 sdk has been updated and now works again with Bitwig.
- we now install the vst3 as a vst3 bundle
- there is a new folder for your presets (User Presets), and the old one is for the factory presets.

Have fun!
Alex.
I'll take you up on that! :hyper: Thanks for your long hours of work on this.
The cpu readings in qjackctl only are slightly higher than
the windows version wrapped in linvst, for a first port of an early beta,
of a rumoured cpu slayer, I'd guess that's quite a good showing!
And others better configured may show even better results

Hi Alex,
Can you please separate zebra2, zebrify, zrev, etc into individual .so?

Post

I think you'd have to ask Mr Urs Heckman about that,
and my guess is that he wants them together as part of the
longstanding promotional to attract Zebra2 buyers. He also likes bundles,
Filterscape, Zebra2, Uhbiks, and Repro all fit that way of doing things.
Doesn't hurt to ask. Zebra3 is their next release, so maybe things will change.
Cheers

Could be a bug in linux/Reaper/Repro 5: when the gui is scaled at 90% or less,
clicking on Preferences locks up the gui until you dock or undock it. Running the windows version of Repro 5 in wine-staging 2.20 does not have the problem. Scaled up
to 110% is also OK.

I also notice a huge difference in performance between a system
with a generic kernel/video driver, compared to one with
an SMP kernel, and official nVidia driver, 20-30% lower cpu use
on the SMP/official video system on the same box, same sounds.
Cheers

In reaper565-linux, the UserPresets folder exists, has a couple presets,
but does not appear in the presets browser panel.

Thanks for your work, Alex!

Is your download/install script in first post in this thread also updated now, so it can be used again?

I started testing with REAPER and not Renoise. Maybe that makes a difference.
Yeah, I didn't manage to reproduce it. I guess my renoise cache was in really bad shape, hehe
It's working great for me on Ardour, Bitwig and Renoise :D

@ Subarumannen: Today falkTX announced major changes affecting linux plugins.
May not be related, but good to keep in mind.

https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopi ... 24&t=17814

These are now disabled by default, re-enabled by
the new 'exerimental' option:

- Plugin bridges
- Wine options
- Force-stereo mode
- Canvas eye-candy
- Canvas with OpenGL

Thanks for the link. Interesting but I guess not related since nether Ardour or Reaper gets Repro betas picked up. I will try some more temporary workarounds and see if that helps.

I have had a weird issue with gtk stuff on my kde box where Synapics package manager refused to show any status icons, applications could not render png resources for some reason. That issue went away for no obvious reason a couple of days ago.. also some lv2 plugins used to have broken guis but that also resolved itself. I think is broken and AFAIK the Ardour vst scanner blacklist plugins where the gui is borked and broken or malfunctioning system libs will probably give the same result.

ldd does not complain about missing libs

There was a bug with Calf ladspa plugin,
recently fixed, maybe check if the old version is installed, rename
the ladspa folder(s) to ladspaOLD and reboot, retry.

You could install and boot Mint on an external drive, would probably
be good luck in the long run.

I did file a Linux bug report in the main Repro-5 thread, but will repeat it:

- Repro-5 launches with size 100% and the bottom part of the GUI is cut off.
- The only way to see the whole GUI is to shrink the GUI to 90% (so now only a tiny bit is cut off the bottom and you can adjust synth parameters)
- BUT then the preferences don't work any more! Now I can't change any of them and it is stuck on 90% size.

I am using:

- Fedora 27
- Reaper v5.62 (Linux test version, which run 100% awesome)
- Intel HD Graphics 6000 (Broadwell GT3) graphics

If you want me to type anything into the command line to give you more details of the system please ask.

I really hope this can be fixed! I see someone else is reporting this too.

You can change gui scale by right-click on an
empty part of the gui, prefs not needed. It's also probably in the Repro-5
init text somewhere.

So you can set your prefs when at 100% whenever a prefs change
is desired, then switch to 90%, dock and undock
if needed, and adjust the reaper panel the plugin gui sits on as needed.

The reaper panel that holds the plugin gui doesn't automatically scale properly,
so at larger scales, you may have to drag it out to hold the full plugin gui,
and if you scale smaller, you might want to drag the panel back to fit
fit the smaller gui size.

If you drag the bottom boundary of reaper's track panel up enough,
you can see the whole Repro gui while it's docked (or depending
on your screen, maybe at a 80 or 70% scale)
Cheers

Yes, falktx is removing the JUCE library from Carla, due to which its current versions do not have vst3 support anymore. But those changes are only affecting Carla and should not have any influence on other plugin hosts.

I can confirm this. I also still have an Ubuntu 14.04 with kxstudio and I can't load Repro-5 into anything else than Bitwig (1.3.16, I don't have 2.x yet). I tried with Ardour, (linux-native) Reaper and Renoise, no luck.
So I did some tests on another machine that is running an up-to-date Arch Linux: I successfully could load Repro-5 into Ardour, (linux-native) Reaper, and Renoise on there.
I would speculate (as a non-developer), that recent versions of the vst libraries may require a more recent version of some low level library that is simply too old on 14.04, and the vst support in my not-so-current Bitwig still works with these old ones.

btw with each host that I could load Repro-5 into (except in Bitwig 1.3 on 14.04) I experienced the bug reported by David Else, where the prefs hang after shrinking the GUI. Changing other settings doesn't provoke the bug. I managed to reset the GUI by unloading the plugin and manually editing Support/com.u-he.Repro-5.Preferences.txt, there changing the value for DefaultUISize back to 100%.

Thanks for the input. The problem is worse than this and these workarounds don't really fix it.

I managed to reset the size by altering the settings file, here is what the GUI looks like as soon as I open it in Reaper (now at 100%): (I will post another screenshot in my next post as KVR seems to allow one per post)

and when I try to pull the window open to reveal the missing GUI, here is what it looks like (this is on Fedora 27):
