One of the reasons why I'm glad the Turks never adopted the Arabic 24-tone quarter tone system (which I understand wasn't that long ago - Bartok's time). Though, I imagine it would still be a complicating factor in terms of virtual instruments to use something like Turkish Segah, for example, as it has its tonal center a coma flat of the Western pitch.jancivil wrote:I never knew that these could start on one of the half-flat notes. VSL has a few of 'em as presets, .scl files in their VI Pro interface (where you can choose 1 of the normal 12 as its '1')...

Huh. I guess it could be a consequence of that. I don't get how that gained so much traction, it's antithetical to the whole though of Arabic intervals...
