Thanks
I don't know anything about compiling, but the two recoder modules (in the dekstop and Simple Module packs) seem to already be compiled. Unfortunately, the former hasn't been updated yet to work with 0.4.0, and the latter won't show up in Rack, despite the other modules in that set showing up, and working very well.

You don't need to compile Rack or plugins yourself. You can use the downloads at https://github.com/VCVRack/Rack/wiki/List-of-plugins

You should compile Rack if you want to develop plugins yourself or compile other people's plugins from source, where a binary might not exist yet.

Quick question: compared with instruments/effects plugins + Reaktor/Bidule - can it offer something unique for sound design (not composing songs)?

No, it only includes two sounds: bloops and blips

:hihi: There are a handful of professional sound designers and film composers using it. It handles sounds of the 60's modulars to the 2017 sounds of the latest Mutable creations, and absolutely everything is CV controllable.

I'm aware of its possibilities. My question is what can it give to me (for designing sounds) that cannot be achieved in DAW with instruments/effects plugins and Reaktor. I can spent time learning it, but would like to know it's worth doing.

If you understand synthesis with other plugins and can design stuff in Bidule and Reaktor then you won't find a steep learning curve.

What you will find is something that is a hundred times easier and more fun to patch than Blocks is IMHO. Back panel patching in Reaktor is just painful (and hard on my old eyes). Top Reaktor block devs Michael Hetrick and Matthew Friedrich are on board and Andrew (and others) has, and will be, bringing us lots of gorgeous hardware ports.

With 0.5.0 dropping imminently there will be a flood of modules that devs are holding back all in glorious zoomable SVG.

I can't understand why anybody with even the faintest interest in modular synths would not want to get on board.

OK downloaded it but where do you setup midi ins and audio interface?

Right click on an empty space on the rack, add Core > Audio Interface or one of the MIDI interfaces, and you can set up the device settings on that module's panel.

Adding multiple Audio and MIDI interfaces is possible, allowing for multiple devices to be used simultaneously, but the support is experimental, so your milage may vary.

This is so much fun! As an added bonus, VCV works as a way of demoing modules from Mutable and others. As a direct result I am now considering buying Rings and Branches for my Eurorack.

There is a manual?

So can we run older versions of the 3rd party add-on modules within the current VCV. All these updates by all the Devs are doing my head in trying to keep everything up to date.

Would be ideal if VCV rack managed the download of all modules not just the bundles ones.

Do i need to delete the previous version? It ask me to replace the file but i still see just version 0.3
