This is probably a complete novice question for someone not a novice with Tracktion, but I don't even know where to begin looking on how to turn this behavior back off (nor do I know how it turned on).

If there's a MIDI clip inserted and the input is active, any time I press a key on the MIDI controller, Waveform records the note - even when I'm not actively recording, or even have the record button for the input active. Where did I go wrong?

I haven't used the feature, but is there a punch-in recording feature enabled (one of the buttons lower left)?

If by pre-record you mean retrospective record, no, I can turn that off and it still happens. Ugh. Thanks, though.

Might be step editing, which you can disable in the midi editor.

THANK YOU. That was super annoying and I wasn't sure how it happened in the first place. Nice feature if you want it on. Not so much if you don't!
