I understand some of the Melda/Vojtech bashing but please keep in mind he is one guy. With opinions like every human. I personally prefer dealing with a human being that knows his shi* than with all this streamlined marketing bull**** from other companies. And regarding the "copying". All these companies recycle scientific results. The real "invention" is done in universities with taxpayer money. They brag about it and invent fancy new names but behind the curtain they rip off scientific papers.
I have very good experiences with MeldaProduction customer service and fixing things. The products do a lot for the money and the audio quality is very good IMHO. You get a lifetime free update policy and the fixes and new features come continually.
But what you really have to understand is that Sound Radix and Melda have totally different product philosophies. They are absolutely not comparable. SR does the "one thing" product where the product can do one thing extremely well. Melda is a toolset where you can combine different audio processing steps to do everything imaginable. Every single Melda product does more than "one thing" (using a clever modulation and macro system) and using MXXX you can combine the plugins and build literally everything.
You are free to decide which product philosophy better suits your workflow. But I do not think one or the other is better in general.

Just download and try them all, pick the ones you like best and give you the best results more quickly.Caine123 wrote:i am heavily interested in PI, Powair and, Surfer EQ2 i already have.
i read some stuff about melda is ripping off other ideas etc. whatever atm how do you like e.g. his plugins compared to PI?
i never liked melda's gui's but read a lot those plugins have better quality and are much cheaper.
before i jump on the Sound Radix bundle what are your opinions?
For the MeldaProduction plug-ins I would stick to the (new) Titanium and Carbonium styles.
To what "ripping off" were you referring?

This is no bashing but people who have their opinion about him and his philosophies. And that doesn't come out of nowhere. This is how he's presenting hisself and he's aware of that.
Anyways straight answers to the ops questions: 1) Yes Melda is ripping off other ideas. I'm not talking about scientific papers or basic algorithms but whole plugins structrures. 2) PI doesn't seem to got cloned by him. So no comparison. 3) GUI is lousy. Not only the looks but also the workflow. 4) Yes they are cheap. But nowadays Melda only sells during his big discount sales like Waves does. I then assume they're overpriced in normal. 5) Melda has no better quality. But Sound radix plugins are better at doing their job (especially the ones you mentioned).

Can you give concrete examples? I do not want to go into a fight if its ripped or not. I do not care. Just courious what case of rip off you refer to.mike_the_ranger wrote:Yes Melda is ripping off other ideas. I'm not talking about scientific papers or basic algorithms but whole plugins structrures.

Is'nt everyone ripping everyone else off, or being influenced by at least?

Very obvious and fitting the topic for example: Soundradix AutoAlign - MAutoAlign, Soundradix DrumLeveler - MDrumLeveler. Then like Imageline Gross Beat - MRhythmizer. When reading through the Melda threads you'll figure out these (just to name a few) got very very very inspired by: Waves VocalRider + features from Peak Rider - MAutoVolume, Zynaptiq Morph - MMorph, MSpectralPan (don't know what the original was, but there was a disucssion in his release thread), an original + features from HOFA BlindTest - MCompare. And the story goes on.akeia wrote:Can you give concrete examples? I do not want to go into a fight if its ripped or not. I do not care. Like I said I'm not talking about basic concepts but whole structures, layouts, features and even plugin names.

I see the pattern. Statistically that can be no coincidencemike_the_ranger wrote: - Soundradix AutoAlign - MAutoAlign

I don't understand the negativity. Nothing wrong with copying good stuff. It's a free market. Actually there are more companies copying and pasting stuff than vice versa.
I don't want to point fingers, but maybe you are familiar with Roland, Yamaha etc. It's THE trend.
Difference is: they just can copy their own stuff forevah

Of course its a free market. And therefore I as a customer can decide if I like such behavior or not. But the difference that really matters in this particular topic is: the copies just don't work like the originals

I use the Melda stuff all the time. I have the total fx bundle and think it was worth it. Setting up a pitch tracking EQ that does what surfer EQ is pretty easy in any of the 8 or so Melda equalizers in the Melda bundle. I did it the other day to clean up a recording from a particularly resonant room. On top of properly following the resonances I also used the harmonic series feature and did it all with dynamic control. It was clean as can be. I didn't really even know that surfer EQ was a thing until after that.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Melda is awesome. Anybody who has followed Vojtech's work knows that he is a top-notch guy. So it is really sad to see him painted in this unfairly negative light.
Don' t like his GUIs? Fine, buy something else, but leave the ad hominum behind FFS.

No sorry Melda is based in Czech.
Gui is not always nice, but if you buy a plugin you'll be able change GUI appearance, theres some good themes. I got used to interface, and it's very fast (for example, analyzer in real time). Few knobs touched in real-time didn't produce anything scary too, but that may depend on plugin. Free Compressor was buggy.
For me, even free Melda Limiter (the red one!) has good quality and helpful often. It's probably "Saturator" now though. Obviously red color fits it.
Never used Sound Radix

Well that's interesting, must be a hardware. Since many things come from there.Apratim wrote: and thinking that melda rips off ideas you can say that massive, serum, etc wavetable synths are copying/ripping Wolfgang Palm
but each dev have their own twist in their plugin so .....its your opinion if you want to buy it or not
