Most excellent.

Especially the part about "not pandering" by including a poly version  :hyper:

Post

Funny thing is the Pro-One itself was 'pandering' to those of us that couldn't afford the Prophet-5 :hihi:

I'm sure The Legend would've been in the running. Repro-1 and The Legend are roughly on par in terms of quality, though very different in terms of capabilities due to the different architectures. Both show that really high quality analog emulation still requires a lot of CPU cycles. Glad that Repro-5 is close to completion. Can we already declare that next year's winner?
That's what I was thinking. Not like there were a dozen synths in the category this year.

Although I own The Legend and have passed on Repro 1 so far I still think it should have won. There have been other MiniMoog emulations but I think Repro 1 is the only emulation of it's kind.

Yes Repro 5 is probably a lock for next year but you never know. U-he might surprise us with something else.

Just out of curiosity, what other synths would have been in the running? I want to get the Legend at some point, I was considering saving my pennies for Behringer's Model D, but I'm not sure about build quality there.

PolyM would have been up there, no? But sure, right synth one.

I love Repro1.
This award is deserved, and there should be more.

The 3 runners up were Empirical Labs Arouser. Xils PolyKB III, and Acustica Audio's Nebula 4.

Congrats - well deserved ....

I thought repro1 and legend were out in 2016....?

The clocks @ CM are going somewhat strange. :D
It's in the Computer Music Jan 2018 issue.

Typically for the awards season a year starts in November or December. So if something comes out in December, it's put towards the consideration of annual awards of the following year.

Ah right. So the 2018 winner will be repro5 then...
