FYI, a student of Paul Berg (ACToolbox) wrote a cross-platform, modular composition tool called AthenaCL that seems awesome:
Developer - http://www.flexatone.org/athena.html
Download - https://code.google.com/archive/p/athenacl/downloads
The athenaCL system is an open-source, object-oriented composition tool written in Python. The system can be scripted and embedded, and includes integrated instrument libraries, post-tonal and microtonal pitch modeling tools, multiple-format graphical outputs, and musical output in Csound, SuperCollider, Pure Data, MIDI, audio file, XML, and text formats. Over eighty specialized Generator, Rhythm, and Filter ParameterObjects provide tools for stochastic, chaotic, cellular automata based, Markov based, generative grammar and Lindenmayer system (L-system), wave-form, fractional noise (1/f), genetic, Xenakis sieve, linear and exponential break-point segments, masks, and various other algorithmic models. ParameterObjects can be embedded in other ParameterObjects to provide powerful dynamic and masked value generation.

On PC you can get some fun results with Rax n Trax and the other various plugins by Nassen
http://www.raxntrax.com
Mozys is actually several plugins that load in a 'wrapper' and is a pretty bonkers 'step sequencer' but all can be loaded separately in your host, preferably a modular host, or within Rax n Trax to supplement its built in modules.
Rax n Trax is itself a modular host and plugin and great for creating non linear stuff

Can't wait until !Epoch is actually out - with all this expertise in generative music, I can't wait to see what people will come up with. I hope a very alive and inspiring discussion and exchange of ideas and patches will ensue!
Athena sounds interesting, but I'm not sure if commandline tools will do it for my way of creativity. I'm very visual, so Bitwig is for instance very good for me, as are node based systems, if they aren't too atomic or too monolithic in approach.
My main 3D-Tool is SideFX Houdini which is all nodes everywhere, but can hold code in some nodes (called "Wrangles"), which is just the perfect mixture for me, since nodes become clumsy if you want to write things like abs(sin(5 + x * alpha / y)) - some lines of code can replace dozens of atomic nodes in such cases. On the other hand, more complex but common things don't need to be re-coded all the time and can be perfectly represented with nodes.
Let's see how it goes. Bitwig still didn't open up their node based system to users, so !Epoch still has the chance to be in first...
Thanks and cheers - I'll investigate those tools you guys linked to.

Wow, this subforum is dead.
Has Loomer done a disappearing act?

Absolutely not: I'm still about, coding hard and working on deastman's Christmas present.
Architect, the modular MIDI toolkit, beta now available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Seriously everyone this program is never going to be released. Its just obviously not the desire of Colin to really release it. If it was...why was it "about to be released" and "just doing x y z" in February 2012...that's SIX years ago this February. Six years of "doing some final coding and then..." again and again. Come on..this is not real. Everyone should give up. Let go and move on.
Colin, I have great respect for your (released) plugins, but wow..just wow.
Peace.
