Can we please have some update info?

I'm posting this out of my own curiosity, and from hearing recent complaints from people about the deafenening silence from Mackie and Jules on this forum. Jules has been here a bit more, and he's pretty active already on the JUCE forum. But can Jules, or someone from Mackie, just pop their heads in and post some info about the progress on things.
1. Ideas about a release date?
2. Will their be a public beta?
3. Screenshots?(This would be most excellent!)
4. Price?
5. Anything at all, please!?!?
I'm so excited about T2 coming out, as I know many are. And I don't mean to be pushy or demanding. I know Jules is busy as well as the whole team I'm sure. But any info would be greatfully appreciated! Thanks! Cheers!

No, we'd all like info - but tbh I don't think most of us expect a response
Tracktion has gone corporate now, which means we get the news when the press releases go out...

I wish I could totally disagree, but I really can't. I hope that Jules keeps enough power over the program to be able to come here and say "Hey, we're coming along fine. You'll like what has been added!" And it doesn't seem that Mackie would do this kind of thing.
For goodness sake, anyone, please. Just stop in and say something. It would make so many people have more faith in what is to come. Myself, I'm buying T2 regardless, but I know that if Tracktion is to get some of the people who are undecided, then they need some info. And I really need something to get excited about too!
Please, anyone?

Actually, I don't doubt Jules keeps 'power' over the program itself. I'm sure he's doing exactly what he likes with Tracktion, as before. Thats a good thing, so far he's had a great vision with T.
Where Mackie has the power is in PR and distribution. And it sure seems like they have instructed Jules to tone down his community involvement, for whatever reason. Of course, Mackie or Jules, feel free to prove me wrong

I see what you mean. However, one of Tracktion's selling points has been great support and having an active developer. I just want to see Jules come in here and say that he's not at liberty to say anything right now, but that things are coming along nicely. That's all, just a word!
Maybe Jules is trying to work on JUCE right now, which to me is fine. Just come in and say so please. I'm not even mad, just really eager to see a sign. ???????

Mackie and Jules have made it very clear that their policy is to not mention any release dates or prices in advance. Probably a good policy too, as people can get pretty impatient when release dates are not met (as is often the case).

So far.... until makcie appeared.floyd wrote:Actually, I don't doubt Jules keeps 'power' over the program itself. I'm sure he's doing exactly what he likes with Tracktion, as before. Thats a good thing, so far he's had a great vision with T.
From then, we just don't know..
But i'm less optimistic than you concerning the control of the program.
You really think that Mackie which plans to distribute Tracktion with several of their hardware don't care about what Jules developes.....
Today, Tracktion situation is ridiculous !!!!
I'm even upset by this situation, when i bought Tracktion early 2003, midi control and better piano roll was announced by Jules....
Now we can just wait and shut up !
Fortunately i like Tracktion V1 very much....
But come on, Jules and Mackie don't be that serious. Say something about V2 !!!!

Jules cannot say anything about it and for obvious reasons has to avoid discussing T2 after the deal had been struck with Mackie.I know you don't really expect him to reply to your post with a full T2 details or anything like that but my guess is he is just busy and will gladly let us all know about T2 when it is ready.
I think T2 is probably ready, but they will let us know when *they* (Mackie and Jules) are ready. We can't hurry them, and they are very unlikely to give us a date for T2's release.
This may help give you an idea as to what is going to make it into T2. This is from over a year ago but gives an idea of where Jules may Take T2...
He said his ultimate goal was to end up with an application that is as powerful as Cubase or Sonar (hopefully that is still the case)so considering the features those packages have now that is a very exciting thought.
The list below is just a collection of various ideas that Jules has mentioned as *possible* inclusions for a future patch or upgrade for Tracktion over the last year or so...
1.Step Sequencer.
2.Colour scheme chooser.
3.Clip-based automation (You drop an FX on a clip even now but I am not sure if you can automate it at clip level).
4.Looped audio recording (looping a section and record multiple takes).
5.Adding effects to midi clips.
6.External controller support (Not a feature I need, so if T1 has this already correct me)
7.Viewing the midi editor in either its normal mode or as a drum sequencer.
8.Improved Piano roll.
9.Possible CD Mastering and Video.
For those us interested in CD mastering in Tracktion here is a discussion with Jules on the subject from Summer 2003...
CD Mastering in Tracktion?
At the end of the day Jules has made a mention of these things as possibilities not certainties *over a year ago* so by now the whole picture could have changed and Jules idea of what Tracktion should have or not, may now be totally different but until T2 details surface it gives some sort of indication as to what might be in T2 but we are still just guessing...

I think that a lot of us are growing jittery, particularly now that we are seeing so many of the other sequencers getting major updates.
One big appeal of Tracktion is its workflow, but the "big" boys out there seem to be stealing Tracktions thunder in this respect, with improved workflow the new buzzword in Sonar and Cubase to name but 2...
The danger is that some of us might simply give up waiting for Tracktion 2, especially if we have no idea when it might emerge. Given that it has taken this long, (i.e. far longer than Jules previously implied) it is not entirely unexpected that we may even begin to wonder if Tracktion 2 will ever actually be released!
In which case we might as well all abandon the programme and find something else to use instead...
But I'm sure that T2 is imminent, as christianmusicmaker says, and that it will rock.
C'mon, Jules. Just tell us its all OK

You might recall that Mackie teased us a few weeks ago, with a message that managed to say a lot - and nothing much, all at the same time.
This would be a good time to score points with current Tracktion users and to let us know that Tracktion 2 will be worth waiting for.

Alright dammit. He's most likely coding, not going through the forums... Figures, right? I mean come on give the guy a break. So what if its taking time? Would you prefer a piece of crap upgrade? So what if "competition" is getting upgrades. either wait and stick with what you have or choose something else, if you guys are this impatient. As I said, the reason why everyone is so tense and anxious is because we are overspeculating.
