In my opinion, this thing could be an interesting concept,
- if it would have an analog audio out mini jack
- if it had 96k DAC
- if it would also run without special drivers/plugins, means beeing "class compliant", accepting MIDI data (incl. CC's)
then it would be really portable; stick it in any computer, feed it from any controller keyboard with notes and MIDI-CC, listen to it analog with no latency and at the end render to the DAW (latency doesnt matter then)
With a second USB-B-port it could even be connected directly with any USB MIDI controller keyboard, giving a fully controllable analog synth expander in a matchbox (powered from a USB-charger at the A-port)....

I was sold up until the being forced to render and it only outputting the sound of a single (assuming highlighted) instance.that's going to hurt you in the long run.the sound though is utterly amazing.just the low end alone is night and day with any VSTI that is out there now.it has that "physicality" to it that is just so sorely missed in VSTI's.you should of provided more examples showing the extent of its capabilities too e.g some audiorate demos wouldn't have gone a miss (the LFO one sounded decent, but it was pretty pedestrian)that's another area where VSTI's tend to suck.even the ones that boast that they can operate into audiorate very rarely are able to compete with even the simplest of mono synths capable of it

Cool, new concept, good luck with the launch!

Wow. That's a lot of added latency, I mean, A LOT. I wouldn't be worried if this was an effect, as it would usually be used during mixing, were latency is less of an issue, but for an instrument that you play in real time while composing... the sound may be terrific but, for me, this is kind of a deal breaker . It's like going back to the pre-ASIO era, and I'm certainly retro, but not so much :hihi:.

Please consider the suggestion of adding a mini-jack output for a future Trueno v2. IMHO, that would solve some of the current concerns and make the whole concept more flexible and attractive.

Maybe it would make more sense to make a PCIe card (like a sound card) containing the key components of an analog synth and offering direct outputs. There would be more space, so it could be a polyphonic synth.

Who knows? Maybe someday this might actually happen.

they may be successful ?? just like video games i tend not to get in the hype

i would rather save money for 1-2 years and get something like scope xite interface and their modular 4 vst and some other synths
REAPER, Phase Plant , Unfiltered Audio TRIAD and LION, NI classic collection,......... ETC

Okay, so why can't they make soft synths sound like that?
I’m on phone so didn’t listen but to answer your question... ultra low power intel processors suck at floating point calculations and that forces the developers to “optimize” the software for best performance because today’s music involves running 60 different instances through three different limiters. Now people have tuned themselves to listening to sounds with no dynamics left and expect it. It’s a viscous circle.

I really like this idea, hope it works like it’s supposed to and we see more of it.

I enjoy using hardware synths which come with a VST editor (ala Moog). I've also dabbled with Virus and Elektron, but the whole audio over USB thing caused me one big headache.

I'd be up for cheap external hardware synth engines (for the sound and DSP saving) with no controls, with an analogue audio output, which can be managed over USB by a VST plugin.

Err, no. Not all developers. :)

Is it going to be available only on amazon ?

I wish I could get it here in Poland.

I haven't read through the thread yet so I'm not aware of this quite important aspect:

How does this thing get audio into a DAW?

Does the VST push audio straight to the DAW or does the Trueno have to be recorded like any audio part with its own audio channels? The latter is tremendously inconvenient, the former is kinda revolutionary and is surely the ideal?

Maybe you can get it via the German or British Amazon site.
Here in Portugal we can get stuff via the British and Spanish Amazon sites because I don't think we got a site of our own.

Does it have Voltage Controlled Oscillators like all truly analog synths?
