Hello everyone,
So, I have been ruminating on the old requests for an ethnic physical modeling soundbank for Zebra. I'm looking through old posts right now and I'm regretting that I never really delivered. Is it too late? Seems like physical emulation driven tools and instruments have come a long way since I released the Orchestral bank.

As for ideas other than a THOROUGHLY ethnic-focused soundbank, I've been doing some interesting experiments with modwheel manipulation lately. Also, I'm putting together another soundscape bank(nearly halfway done) - which will be smaller than the other two banks.

Cheers!

I'd surely be interested for one. Would you care to describe briefly what is your process in creating those 'modelings' and their incorporation in Zebra ?

Cheers.

BTW, I listened to 'Navatus', the recent piece on your Soundcloud page - quite nice ! Really enjoyed this sonic journey.

A 'THOROUGHLY ethnic-focused soundbank' would be amazing, please make use of AT too

Looking forwards to a soundscape bank - would be an instabuy :)

Yes, AT would be awesome. On the modulation front I started to explore Bitwig's modulation capabilites - a nice set of Zebra XY parameters would also be very nice.

Cheers.

Cool! Thanks for letting me know.
When I was doing the physical emulations for the orchestra, I was using various samples of orchestral instruments for comparison, both by ear and by sight, using mostly spectral analyzers - just bouncing back and forth between sample and Zebra. I usually started with just a single oscillator, playing with the wavetable until I got something I felt was expressive and comparable to my reference(sometimes, because experimenting is fun), then I would start having fun with extra modules, especially the comb filters, of course. I wasn't too concerned about the end result being exactly like the reference...I was actually using the reference samples as a springboard to get something as musical as possible out of Zebra. Subtle distortion was also quite useful for many of the patches.
A lot of the soundscapes were me trying to emulate an orchestral instrument and getting majorly sidetracked.(and occasionally frustrated/exasperated :phew: )
The Zebra Orchestra is much more of an impression/extension of an actual orchestra than it is an exact representation of one - that's how I always saw it.

Glad that you liked 'Navatus'! It's part of an album that me and my brother are working on, so there's more on the way.

I've been more mindful of AT lately, especially with soundscapes. :)
As for the soundscape bank, hoping to get some demos up soon.

If I can get the ethnic bank rolling, the XY pads will definitely get some love. :tu:
