I found this while randomly browsing youtube. Tested it out, feels pretty good for free DAW

After Sonar drama, basically nice to see the saying confirmed: "1 door closed, another 100 open up".

Did a test account and here`s what ones get (Dec 8th 2017):
- Soundbridge Version 1.07 (the daw, optional 32/64bit)
- RitMix Version 1.03 (drm, step seq)

As a preliminary point, the nuisance factor for some:
(from FAQ):

"Does SoundBridge require Internet access?

Yes, SoundBridge currently requires internet access for online activation every time you open the software. You can activate

SoundBridge with the internet and then bring it outdoors if you’d like.
However, if you close the program you’ll have to use a HotSpot to re-activate it.
Yes, we know some people find this annoying and we’re working hard to find an offline solution. Bare with us!"

I`ll wait for offline option.

As I wait for offline option and don`t install,
general feedback and reports of pro/cons could be helpful to get a better picture.
(I.e. I wonder how they generate income?)

Correct me if im wrong this DAW started as Lumit correct? I have waaaaaay to many daws but i mean...its free, so mabye i'll check it out for the heck of it... From the Website it looks like...Well...It looks actually really really good for a Free Daw. Of course Marketing pictures and actual performance is 2 different things. I'll have to see for myself.

Think I found it. SkyTracks.io, the platform SB runs on is a Subscription Service that Ranges from Free to 15$ a month. That explains alot actually on this Daw Being Free.

The offline mode is there, the FAQ is not updated :/

Hmm, the interface isn't half bad at first glance. I like the simplicity. And it scales! Definitely worth a perusal if you're willing to give up your email and create an account.

All this is based on 10 minutes with the program. Interesting to see what others think.

They must have changed he name recently a theres a post on Facebook from October where they refer to it as Lumit

Its worth registering if you want a drum sample sequencer VST for free, RitMix seems quite nice with some deep features

The problem with free commercial software like this that is, commercial software that is only free as in beer, as opposed to free software that is free as in free as in speech, is that there has to be a workable model behind it for it to survive.

When you think about investing your time into something like this then it's probably good to think about whether or not it will be around in the future and whether that time is better spent on a different product.

I wish them luck with it.

It seems to export midi and audio, so how much time would you actually waste if you can export the stems? At least for basic stuff. Not telling anyone to use it as their main DAW, but so far it seems reasonably competent for just recording. I'm up to a full 20 minutes with it, so take that for what it's worth.

Does seem a bit suspicious with the lack of contact info, and other stuff. Then again, maybe they have browsed these forums and don't want to be constantly flamed...

Or maybe they don't want their bosses to know they're designing a DAW on their own time.

Reading that Reddit thread, I'd keep my contact info secret as well. Odd. I deal with a lot of Chinese software vendors, and this reminds me a bit of that.

There's also a Soundbridge Academy which advertises a $600 a year audio course. I think they use the DAW for that so maybe that's their major income source. On LinkedIn there ain't much info about the company apart from the single employee / founder and mention of some mysterious co-founders.

So does Sonar. I gathered that the people thinking in terms of a Sonar replacement would want to think long term.

If you're just using this to share projects, well, ok. For me, I'm not convinced that's going to work all that well. YMMV.

It does host 3rd party VSTs, yes? Including Kontakt?

Handsome-looking page. What I don't like is that to get any more info that what's summarised there, I have to sign up. Anyone seen a manual?
