Hi!
First of all: thank you very much for waveform, I like it as is even with it's bugs.
However, I still use Audacity just for it's sonograms (spectrograms) view. Spectrums gives me much more information about the sound than simple waveforms: loudness of specific freqencies, hum/noises, speed and overall quality of sound even if I can't actually hear it by ear. I just see it.
It is for users, who need to see how vst plugins change the sound or just need to check specific frequencies. Like on EQ's in dynamic, but differently and static.

Audition example:

Or something like this

I found two or three vst's which make sonograms, but on the fly, as playback goes, and mostly without edit functions. I need it static. So I have two ideas.
Firstly, I ask for simple sonogram view (like a midi editor or as a alternative track's view) with basic settings (like Audacity have or even without) which would be linked with selected track and can be edited (cut, copy, paste, select). Like track's waveform, but static spectrum, that's all.

Second idea: sonogram view as a separate plugin, which can be inserted anywhere, with ARA integration or something like that, selecting linked with track's selection, and basic editing functions (or without, if this can't be implemented).

Is this too difficult to add? What do you think?

I think you should open a request ticket via Official support as devs are not coming to this forum frequently

The new features for W9 have already been decided, so, unless this has already been decided on, it isn't going to appear until W10 at the very earliest (probably Feb/Mar 2019).
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

It's every year. The new features are announced at or around the time of the NAMM show in late January. Videos showing the new features emerge then or soon after. The new version should appear February or March (since T4, it's got slightly later each release).

TSC mentioned in a thread a couple of months back that they'd decided on the new feature list and were working on the development of Waveform 9. I haven't seen any clues about new features.
