This is true. It costs so much for a court case, and copyright infringement is Federal. So not usually worth it for them unless you make enough from it to pay the lawyer.

ProjectSAM's Christmas sale seems to have begun. 25% off store-wide. Time to get Swing More! for me. But I guess I'll wait until tomorrow in case they are putting in golden tickets as well.

Serious question time Is there any distortion plugins that can compete with the UAD Vulture culture? Thanks

Does Native Instruments do anything else in terms of sales before the $25 voucher expires? Like a Christmas day thing?

Thanks!

Don't know if it's that way now but if you do end up picking up the bundle, check the EULA on the SoundPool.
Good catch, thanks for the heads up. Totally bogus. The more I look into it, the more this bundle is looking like a pain in the ass (too late, already bought it). If it was a pittance, I might consider it, but each soundpool license is 50 clams.

Further:

6. USE OF MUSIC, VIDEO AND PHOTO FILES: The music, photo and video files included in the MAGIX products may be used only for non-commercial purposes (exclusively for private purposes). Commercial use constitutes receipt of financial benefits through direct use of the files (through sale, licensing etc.)". ....snip..and, "7. CLAIM FOR DAMAGES: MAGIX is entitled to proprietary and copyright protection for the licensed software as well as the music and video files. Anyone responsible for any violations against such rights may be sued by MAGIX.

Then we have the Audio Pro license you purchase at catooh or whatever the f:

The provider grants the customer ..snip..rights to the following commercial usage of the content:
a. Use in edited form or in the context of another work
(1) The customer receives the common and non-transferable right to edit and/or join the content with other pieces of work, and use the content or let it be used in the context of this editing or joining with another work:
(a) The customer is allowed to copy and distribute the edited or embedded content. The right to granting of time-limited permission to use (rental or lease) is excluded.
(b) The customer has the right to present the edited or embedded content or make it publicly perceivable using image or audio carriers.
(c) The customer has the right to keep the edited or embedded content publicly in a state of readiness.
(d) The customer is further allowed to broadcast the edited or embedded content, or to let it be broadcast.
(2) Definitions:
(a) An editing of the content is necessary only if the customer’s personal creativity is exhausted. Immaterial changes are not considered editing in the sense of this contract, and may only be applied according to the regulations utilized in paragraph 2. b.
(b) A connection to another work in terms of this contract exists if the content is connected to a different piece of work protected by copyright (for example, spoken or film piece), i.e., in the case of the object with which the content is connected representing an independent work in terms of the respective copyright specifications. A connection to commonplace objects does not represent a connection to another work according to the terms of this contract. The conditions outline in paragraph 3. (1) are to be respected.
b. Use in unedited form or outside the context of another work

You can't use the vouchers on sales. You can't use the vouchers on upgrades. You can't use the vouchers on updates. <sarcasm>Pretty useful vouchers.</sarcasm>

Realized they might be useful if I didn't already own most of the products through KU11. And? You can buy a plug for your Kontrol or other Kontakt maschine for $25. So that would be the thing to get with it!

I guess if I were going to crossgrade to the full Symphony series, it would be good.

On another note, Musician's Friend has ProjectSAM's old Orchestral Brass Sample Library that plays out of some sort of Kontakt 2 player(?) for $49. I know ProjectSAM is usually decent stuff, but is this even worth it? I recently got the Kirk Hunter Brass.

You can't use them on anything that costs less than $25 and you can't use them on merchandise, e.g., hats, t-shirts. I don't think that you can use them on hardware either. At the very least you can't use them to buy an AC adapter, I tried.

Right, that's why I joked about it in the other thread, the joke was probably too dry though LOL!

I recently found out about the less than $25 thing because I was going to buy a Maschine expansion when they were on sale for $24.50. Nope, no can do! What I didn't try was adding two packs to the cart to see if the condition applied only to the cart total. Maybe someone else knows? I wasn't interested in the expansions enough to pay actual money, I don't have a Maschine, I just viewed them as a source for samples and Reaktor patches.

JRR Shop has the Antares DUO for $19. It says it requires an ILOK smart key. Is this right or would the "ILOK license manager" work?

Well, you should be able to use it on Maschine Expansions.

From what I see all Antares software seems to require the physical USB iLok dongle.

LOL! Should have know someone would actually try it! :D

I think they are a "See how great we are? We are giving you a coupon!" thing that they don't really want to give out.
