interactive MIDI channel selector?

I've already found the MIDI Channel Splitter, but I'm looking for something a bit different. Is there a module (or a way to make a patch) that takes an incoming MIDI stream and offers a knob that selects which MIDI channel in the stream to output? You might call it an automatable MIDI channel filter. I'd like to then map the select knob to a hardware controller via CC.
