I got a question about Repro 1 I read that eventually that Repro 1 and Repro 5 will eventually become just Repro. At that time will it have a sequencer then or will you do away with it.

I think that Repro 1 and Repro 5 becoming one is the state they are at now - ie they are packaged together as a single product. That's as far as it will go. So the sequencer will stay in Repro 1.

What he said. They meant two separate synths, but one bundle/license.bcm70 wrote:I think that Repro 1 and Repro 5 becoming one is the state they are at now - ie they are packaged together as a single product. That's as far as it will go. So the sequencer will stay in Repro 1.

I just bought it and installed it, but where's Repro-5? I only see Repro-1 in the installer and in my host's list. Feeling lame.

Everything is still called "Repro-1" for backward compatibility. Repro-5 is however included, e.g. in Repro-1.vst3 or Repro-1.component (AU). Only VST2 versions are installed as separate plug-in binaries, the others are combined.pizzafilms wrote:I just bought it and installed it, but where's Repro-5? On High Sierra you might need the latest Logic update or a restart to see the AU.
That said, what host/system do you use?

Thanks, Urs. A restart fixed it.
I'm using MainStage on High Sierra.

Spent some time with the new Repros...
Here is a remake / cover of San Francisco Hi-NRG synthesiser disco classic ’Menergy’ from 1981 by one of my favourite artists Patrick Cowley (who sadly passed away too young). Since he used both the Prophet-5 and Pro-One for almost all of the synthesiser sounds in his tracks I thought it would be fun to try to recreate this track by the u-he versions of said synthesisers. I set a rule not to use any external effects on the synth parts but only the built-in effects included in the Repro-1 and Repro-5, so no external reverbs, delays, choruses, equalizers etc used. This proved to be a bit of a challenge since Cowley was a heavy user of phasers, but i found by automating the Res-Q effect I could get a passable phaser style effect. Oh and the original has vocals too but as you might guess I didn’t bother try recreating those (though I snuck in a bit of vocoder style speech like in the original)
Now I didn’t try to match the sounds 1:1, not sure that is even possible since Patricks heavy use of effects, also there are couple of different versions of the track with slightly different sounds in each of them. But I tried to get reasonably close and I think the spirit is there.
Drums are done separately (though there’s few electronic percs and noise snare from Repro-1) and there’s some slight compression / limiting and equalising on the master (though nothing major really). ¨
It was fun to put the u-he versions through their paces in this way!
Hope ok to post!

penguindude,
Not familiar with the original, but your cover sounds good!

Sounds better in some ways (e.g. the choice to not slather it with reverb) and authentically captures the retro vibe. Nice playing all around including the solos. Well done penguin!penguinfromdeep wrote:Spent some time with the new Repros...

Dunno, if this has already been reported:
When clicking on "Purchase Licence" in the "Nag-Screen", I'm getting a 404-Error.
