Interesting point, although, to be fair, that is not necessarily only an alt-right position.

With the risk of sounding too academic, there is shift in our understanding of public speech that our culture has not yet fully processed. When many of us where younger there was such a thing that now is often referred to as "locker room talk" where you could use inappropriate language in a completely private environment (in Germany they use the "Stammtisch" metaphor instead of the locker room, but it is essentially the same thing). While frowned upon today, that actually had its social function. If you want to be able to clearly understand the real difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior or use of language you need to be able to venture into the realm of inappropriateness once in a while. With the loss of true privacy these "spaces where you could explore being inappropriate" moved into the public sphere. And we have not yet learned how to process that correctly.

To make a long and boring story short. Inappropriate language posted in public forums for sure needs to be pointed out as being inappropriate. But at the same time we also need to relax a little. It is a fundamental human need to break taboos and to be inappropriate and you will find that anywhere, including DAW related forums.

If you've been using Reaper for that long, then surely you have been on their forums for that number of years and have picked up on the vibe there by now...?

Bottom line, Reaper is the "rebel" DAW. Rebels aren't known for their moderating. They are known for making fun of people who want moderating (Hence your reception here).

If it bothers you enough that it's an ethical issue, then you have 2 choices: Stop reading their forum, or (if you really feel ethically bound) switch to another DAW. FWIW, every other DAW forum out there does at least a decent job of keeping the rude stuff out. The flip side of that is some go overboard and censor any criticism.
