Any way to create a keyboard shortcut for the 'Reset Device' button?

Thanks Tracktion/Waveform gurus - this would be extremely helpful for me.

I don't think there's a way to add a shortcut for the reset device button in the settings/audio device tab, but you can create a shortcut for "panic reset the audio engine". Find this in settings/keyboard shortcuts/transport controls.

Hi AGreen - thanks for that.

No, it's that all important 'Reset Device' button I need to somehow hot-key..

If it turns out there is no way, I would propose that the developers create a user accessible address for this button, so a macro or keyboard shortcut can be created. Even better, it would be great if they created a copy of that button (and made it assignable) directly on the 'edit' tab, maybe right next to the 'panic' button.

'But why Mike at the Coffeehouse?', you might ask..

The audio engine is continually stopping on me in my system when I add certain plugins, or change parameters within those plugins.

My System:
Tracktion Waveform, build 8.2.0 64 bit
Windows 10 pc
Intel i7 chip
32gigs ram
UAD Apollo Thunderbolt system
(2 Quad 8p's & 1 Quad Twin Mk II)

I constantly have to switch from the 'edit' tab to the 'settings/audio device' tab to press the 'Reset Device' button, which gets me back to having audio. I then have to switch back to the 'edit' tab to get back to what I was working on.

Any help or insight would be most welcome.

Thanks, Mike at the Coffeehouse :phones:

this happens pretty often here too with a maudio 2x2m interface (audioengine stops with the need to reset it via settings/audio/reset audioengine). other interfaces (rme, motu) are not that succeptible to it.

a hotkey would be greatly appreciated!!!

You can create a waveform script (for a specific action) and run it when you need (and maybe assign it to a key) , don't know much about that but the procedure should appear in Waveform Manual

Interesting that this only happens to you on one of your three interfaces, Klangblaster

I wonder what it is that is different about certain interfaces that causes this inconvenient phenomena -??

Could it be the quality of the drivers?

I just got a UA Apollo Twin MkII Duo Thunderbolt, and I'm having the exact same problem as you on W10-64 and Waveform 8.2.7. I've updated the UA software, updated the Thunderbolt software, and tweaked everything I could think of, but so far no joy. Sometimes, it seems to happen to me without my even adding/changing anything on the UA, too.

Are you on Thunderbolt, FireWire, or USB? If on Thunderbolt, which adapter are you using? They only officially approve the StarTech and the Kanex, and AFAICS the Kanex isn't even made any more. (I have a Cable Matters, which the makers of the adapter claim will work with UA, but....)

A keyboard shortcut would save time, but even better of course would be to get some kind of solution so this doesn't happen in the first place. We shouldn't have to be working around this kind of behavior to begin with.
