I did set up a Live 9 project where i could use the Korg ARP Odyssey plugin and Oddiry 2 using a dedicated MIDI controller for each of them.
Just tried to create the same Synth Brass patch with both (i love using such patches for first tests and also love those sounds anyway...). While the parameter ranges do not fit exactly, especially with the envelopes, i was able to get them sound almost identcial.
So far i do not see that Oddity 2 is really superior in terms of sound but i will try to use some more extreme settings like e.g. high Resonance soon.
FWIW like when i checked the new hardware ARP Odyssey (which the plugin seems to nail quite nicely from what i remember when playing the hardware) i am using the built-in Drive for most patches. In the hardware this was an on/off switch while in the plugin it is a fader.
Indpendent of any direct comparison i really like the sounds i could get from the new Korg plugin, also when using the polyphony and Unison features not found in the hardware version. As the interface is an almost exact replication of the hardware Korg Odyssey it feels quite "familiar" if you you ever played with that hardware. That GUI "feels" better while using it than that in Oddity 2 and i prefer that GUI in the Korg plugin. What is nice with the Korg plugin is that the values of the faders (and the detailed patrameter names) are displayed as a tool-tip with that fader and not in one fixed display like in Oddity 2.

Finally managed to buy Odyssey! Korg Shop died after payment, but I still received an email with download links and serial. Plugin registration worked fine. And the plugin itself....I've never played the hardware, but it sounds fantastic, and the UI is lovely in retina resolution.

So, I migrated and downloaded the new versions yesterday. All well, except the existing Legacy Cell wouldn't work/load (I'm using Reaper 5.70). I saw here that even though it wasn't included in the links provided when migrating, ut was available in the store so I downloaded that version. As people have pointed out, it was the 1.30 version, and when I ran it, it prompted me to Repair the installation. And now Legacy Cell is gone...
A real pity, as I've used it a lot in recent projects. I've raised a support ticket, so will post here if they get back to me. Might be after the holidays, though.

I'd throw Arturia's excellent Buchla Easel V into the equation. It's a quirky fella but definitely adds a lot of 70ies vibe as well, on a whole different sonic spectrum. I have the feeling that Arturia has figured it out in this one, whatever it is.D-Fusion wrote:Love the sound of it and with Repro 1-5, Diva, Odyssey, Tal and Roland and my hw i am now in my Retro heaven![]()
That said, looking forward to the Korg, once they iron out their sales process. In the meantime, two Korg SQ-1 arrived at the studio yesterday and beg to be hooked up to some eurocrack.

Besides installing the new Korg Arp Odyssey plugin before nstalling that i de-installed all old plugins and re-installed (and re-authorized) them using the latest available installers for Windows. Currently all Korg plugins including Legacy Cell are working fine here in Windows 10 64-bit.RasmusV wrote:So, I migrated and downloaded the new versions yesterday. I think sound wise the Korg synths are really really good.
Especially the Odyssey sound glorious.
Even i have most of them on my phone (what times we live in) i want these inside Logic.
I think the collection price of 150 is really good even if i would be mainly interested in the Odyssey as plug-in with the hope they really update the others that they on the same level as the iOS version. Alone the random option in iWavestation is too good to not have that. It almost give you always a usable sound or easy to tweak something in minutes.
But it´s all a bit strange with the Gadget collection where you have that also already (but in limited form).
And the shop and Korg servers are indeed the most worst ever (beside soundcloud).
So i try it next year since the price seems still valid until the end of January 2018.

Please Urs, think of making a sequencer emulation like the SQ1 or the one in ARP2600V for ACE! That would make it Super Duper ARP 2600 alternativeUrs wrote:

As for the Korg MS-20 soft synth, I hope they will update the VSTi and make it like the iOS one. I'll buy it in instant (it doesn't sound like the hardware, but it still sound very good IMO)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I think that's the key here. Gadget is for playing with the sounds, with no concerns in messing with them. This is for people who really want to mess with the sounds, create their own or tweaking the existant ones, loading new banks, etc. I'm glad they separate waters, and keep these alive (hopefully even expanding the collection - Korg has A LOT to grab from their own past, if they want to)Cinebient wrote: ... it´s all a bit strange with the Gadget collection where you have that also already (but in limited form).

Ok, it seems to be a really hard task for Korg to make a properly functioning website.
In Safari (sierra) i am able to put my software in the cart. When applying the discount coupon, it gets caught in a loop without progress.
In Chrome, trying to log in results in an error message.
For a company with the reputation of Korg, it is nearly unbelievable how badly they set up their internet presence.
