You have to run the actual installers and enter the codes one more time during the process. This initially confused me.Jace-BeOS wrote:Yes, i got the emails with the codes and links for downloading the installers.

I didn't have any issues with any of it, so here's a quick review:
On my Korg User Net page, after logging in, there were very obvious new buttons on right side of the page: Migration License, and Upgrade License.
The first got my Legacy license upgraded, the second allowed me to purchase the "Special" bundle upgrade for 49.99 (so that the Odyssey is added to my collection).
No real issues with any of it... though I admit, I had to read the e-mail a few times to understand that the "special bundle" (and the Upgrade coupon for it) existed specifically to "upgrade" my 'regular' bundle to the version containing the Odyssey. That is, indeed, a rather circuitous approach to just buying the Odyssey for fifty bucks!

"Assuming makes an ass out of u and me" is a stupid, outdated cliche, btw. Last time I heard someone actually say that unironically, as in, without doing so to make fun of the sort of people who say dumb shit like that, was maybe ten years ago.

Maybe a stupid comment but I could not find my installers anywhere, until I realized that they were located under my Account/Account information/Registered products. I always associate account information with my address, name, password ans stuff like that. I never expected to find the installers in that locationJace-BeOS wrote:Yes, i got the emails with the codes and links for downloading the installers.

Well... on the topic of the synth itself, I've never played an original Odyssey, but I can say that the Korg plugin sounds sick. It might just be marketing talk, but this was the line that ultimately pushed me over the edge - "Rather than using generic modeling techniques that simulate output sound, KORG digitized the transistor, condenser, and resistor used in the hardware model. We used those digitized components to reconstruct the same circuits as the hardware." Even though I have no way to prove if they actually did that, or if it really does make a massive difference, it's a highly impressive claim.

Yeah, ive never tried original Odyssey, i wasnt sold on Oddity and i am not usually sold on analog emulation but this one has very beautiful sound to me. I am much more excited by it than my last 3 purchases - serum, synthmaster one or vacuum (not in terms of functionality but results). But i hate the CPU hungriness, hope it will get down - some cpu modes like UHE synths have would be nice.

Repro 1 and Odyssey just sound great together, I'm loving that combo using their sequencers together.

Like all of the KORG Plug-ins, ARP ODYSSEY sounds very good. To my ears, it has a clear and authentic sound. I really hope they improve the CPU usage too.

I believe the Black Rooster plugins, u-he Repro, Synapse Legend, DMG TrackComp and all the Cytomic plugins are using some form of circuit modelling (which would also mean modelling individual components).EsiGui wrote:Well... on the topic of the synth itself, I've never played an original Odyssey, but I can say that the Korg plugin sounds sick. I wouldn't be too hard on Korg. They are just not a software company so this is expected so some degree. I guess we should be glad they have finally pulled their finger out of... and started moving again. Probably because Roland has entered the market too.
And speaking of Roland, then they are obviously not a software company either. Roland Cloud is the worst music software product I ever have had a dubious honor to come into contact with.

For a non software company, they make far better software products than 'professional' companies like Arturia.

What is sad is both of these companies could be real leaders in the game, but it seems they don't pay attention that well to the market. I honestly love Korg's stuff on a certain level, but they could have done more market research for the VST version of Odyssey and gotten the Ui right, the mouse wheel behavior is really unfortunate. I think everyone that uses their stuff should submit support tickets about UI resizing and mouse wheel behavior. I don't see any way to get exact values for the sliders, for instance. I am loving the sound and remember that a real Odyssey doesn't allow you to enter exact values eitherrobotmonkey wrote:I wouldn't be too hard on Korg. I dunno, Urs heaped some praise on Arturia's Easel V.Aloysius wrote:For a non software company, they make far better software products than 'professional' companies like Arturia.
