Intermittent crashes to Live 10 Beta when deleting Breeze 2 Demo AU version after it has timed out. I am able to instantiate and delete without an immediate crash that occurred in previous version.

Thanks for the report. If you experience a crash please email a crash report.krankyone wrote:Intermittent crashes to Live 10 Beta when deleting Breeze 2 Demo AU version after it has timed out. I am able to instantiate and delete without an immediate crash that occurred in previous version.
I've been making presets all day. Some really, really cool stuff. This is the fun part. Can't wait to share.

Speaking of presets, what does everyone think regarding preset naming? When we first released Aether in 2009, convolution verbs were still king of the plug market, so I tended to focus on very creative presets and things that simply are not possible with convolution. This lead naturally to highly creative things, and it became something of a trend in all our products: i personally tend to end up using creative names instead of "Dark Hall 01" "Dark Hall 02" etc.
But for Breeze, I am attempting to force myself to be more conformist as to make it easier to find what you are looking for. I am generally using these type of names since we have Alg Modes that already use such names and have meaningful differences that are aligned with the common perception of what a hall, chamber, plate, etc reverb has come to mean in the music production vernacular over the last century.
I'm organizing the Factory 2.0 preset folders according to Alg Mode used, plus some FX and ambience folders for abuses of these modes that are intentionally "wrong" or simply too short/small to really be considered verb.
I am wondering about the new preset expansion now. Should I organize it the same way, or should I organize it perhaps according to "target application"? i.e. Vocals, Drums, Piano, Strings, etc.? We've had this type of request before, and it can be useful of course. But I wonder if it discourages someone from trying a "Drum" preset on a GTR or piano for example, when it may be a perfectly great thing to try?
Anyway, what are people's thoughts on preset organization. B2 is my "self-ish playground" where I exercise my wildest verb ideas and organize things however desired mostly from the design/development/math/science perspective... but we want Breeze to be a "for the people, by the people" kind of thing, so I am curious for feedback as to what kind of preset organization you guys think would be most helpful...
all ideas welcome... we're listening...

Thank you for listening…! Really.
I personally prefer very "conventional" and clear preset names ("Dark Hall 01", etc…) and I really prefer to leave unusual names to FX and "special" folders, as you say.
With regard to the other question, I prefer decidedly when the presets name are a clue to the character of that kind of preset, and (personally, of course) I am not interested in presets with names dedicated to specific instruments (Vocals, Piano, etc…), mainly because I rarely use conventional instruments in my works (I usually work with what most people would probably call "sound design", but it's really "direct composition of sound" for me).
When I use conventional instruments, they are often not used in a conventional way (e.g. "vocals" can have very unusual timbres, and so on…), or they are usually in live recordings (chamber music from the concert hall), and in that case preset names like "Hall" or "Chamber" are perfect for me.
Besides, I fully agree on your doubt: I, too think that it could discourage somebody to try the presets on different instruments.
Personally, I would be fine also with names that describe a reverb, like "Dense & wide (modulated) 01" or "Sparse & clear (straight) 03".
I understand very well that this applies just to my specific case, of course.

Curious that you ask about the preset naming ... I've always been baffled by "use case" naming as they are typically artificially wrong from the start. For example, vocals tend to be longer plates or rooms with EQ moderated by male/female and voice ranges. Drums shorter plates/rooms with varying EQ also. In reality a lot of "Drum" verb configurations are great on lower male and female solo voices. etc... etc... Basically there is no such thing as Male_Vocal_01 in my opinion. So organizing by alg + settings is the logical thing.
Having typed all that ... I understand that many people don't know a room from a hall from plate from a slap from an echo from flange from a chorus from a ............. and just want a preset that says Male_Plate_01
EDIT: Forgot to say in case it isn't obvious, I would much prefer organizing by alg.

If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

I´m all for creative names since i love to use them myself a lot.
I prefer to have common things like Dark Hall, Bright Hall, Chamber etc. as folder/subfolder which then can contain every form of creative names. So mainly like it is right now.
Everything is fine and i like to get inspired by creative names...even if they don´t always tell we how they might sound.
But then i also prefer that mostly in synths as well. So what do i know

?
first name? I'll look.
AFAIK, we have only GUI glitches on OSX remaining now. There are no dsp or functionality bugs at this point already AFAIK. But ya, of course we continue working away on the GUI glitches. And we want to add a few other fancy-pants GUI things still as well.softska wrote: Sounding great so far hope the bugs get worked out soon
BTW, does anyone miss the light/white theme from Breeze 1.x? The white GUI looks very nice for marketing IMHO, but i've always though the dark GUI was easier to stare at for long hours. Someone in another forum seemed to think the opposite, so I'm curious... regardless we are completing the light GUI theme also.
All this new framework will let us do things much faster in the coming year as you will see. We've been in RnD mode the past few years basically to take our stuff to the next level, and now we start to see the some of the results of these efforts. Exciting times.

Denis helped me. He pointed me to the Applications Support folder (macOS) and I saw that the permissions were messed up. So I set them to something normal and all my 2c products authed and worked including Breeze 2. Thanks for the help!

great! sorry if we didn't see your email immediately... tons of emails at the moment as you can imagine... mostly asking how to go from PS 2.5 to 3.0, bc it seems I didn't make that clear enough in the original email...plexuss wrote:Denis helped me. It should work already so long as you are using a 64bit host. Please try the demo to verify all is well on your specific machine etc.
