Yeah, I paid $50 for the Legacy Collection a couple of years ago. I can see how someone that spent $400 on it, or just part of it, could be miffed, but if that was done 15 years ago, I dunno, maybe you shouldn't be that miffed.

There doesn't appear to be one.

I used the demo sounds on the Korg site and demos of the hardware KARP and module when I was deciding. There are possibly some slight differences, but their description of digitizing the components used in the hardware circuit then putting them together to recreate the ARP as an actual digital model shows me that at the very least they really cared about getting as close as possible to their hardware.

Like i said. There are a lot videos about the iOS version. It‘s the same sound (just less voices) if you want to hear it.
F.e. :

I do think it is pretty obvious he wants a demo version to try in his DAW. They really should offer one.

I got my receipts they should know they sold it for $50 two Black Fridays ago or so. I think they should have just made Odyssey $50 for anyone with a Korg plugin license.

I paid $100 for my KLC in 2014. I guess it was on sale.

I'm certainly not paying half of that for one plugin.

Will probably regret asking this here, but it’s been at the back of my mind since the announcement: apart from Windows availability, what are the key differences between these Korg (Legacy) Collection plugins and the ones which come as part of Gadget for Mac?

In other words, what are people missing if they use the Milpitas VST instead of the Wavestation one, Montpellier instead of Mono/Poly, or Lexington instead of ARP Odyssey? (There’s no Polysix or MS-20 in Gadget for Mac. Darwin does sound like it might be missing some things from M1. But it’s really not that obvious to me what may be missing from the other three: Wavestation, Mono/Poly, and ARP Odyssey.)

Heard some rumblings about “proper” desktop versions, maybe something about the number of voices, and there’s a possibility that you can do more to tweak the latency or bitdepth in those separate plugins. Those could all make sense. But it does sound like the ARP Odyssey plugin is very close to the Lexington plugin. Montpellier sounds like it uses separate pages instead of putting every setting on one screen but includes all the Mono/Poly features. Then, despite some major UI differences, Milpitas can do pretty much everything the original Wavestation could do.

So, what is it about Korg Gadget for Mac which would make those plugins subpar?

I get that, I've been in that position, but it's an odd situation. If you imagine software as a depreciating asset, it makes sense that way. But it's also fair to reward long-time customers. At the same time, since the entire bundle has been going on deep discount due to age, long-time customers could have upgraded to the whole thing. I mean, if you didn't own specific synth(s), you were on equal footing with someone who owned none.

As it stands, the current sale price of the bundle is great for brand-new customers, but they didn't get the past 14+ years to use it either, and the Odyssey is a brand-new instrument for everyone. I do agree there should be some kind of crossgrade or loyalty discount from individual products though. Has anyone tried contacting them about it?

You paid $100 for a bunch of 14 year old products on discount. $50 for a brand new synth is unreasonable?

Psychologically, I get that's they're also sold as a bundle, but pretend it's an independent product. Is it worth $50 to you or not?

Yes I have. It’s inportant to keep in mind that Korg charged for universal binary and 64 but updates - updates that brought no new functionality, just compatibility.

I’m not asking for the ARP ODYSSEI free - just the same upgrade price as the others.
