Tascam US122 & Traction (vs Emu 404)

Just the other day I set out to buy a US-122, I ended up getting an Edirol UA-25. Much better spec on the Edirol, and it's not too much more expensive. Anyhow, I'm getting some weird crackles on it right now, but these seem to be due to some bogus default settings (OS X power saving in particular). Getting better by the day, and pretty impressed so far. If you're considering a US-122, check out the UA-25 as well.

Is there any problem with moving the latency slider all the way down? Does it cause dropouts?

When I left the latency in the UA-25 control panel untouched and tried to adjust the latency through the Tracktion latency slider, the sound had occasional drop outs. leaving the slider in tracktion set to minimum and changing the UA-25 control panel latancy worked fine (not forgetting to click the reset sound card button).
