About that Holiday 50% off sale...

In case you haven't heard, Tracktion is running a 50% off sale on Waveform, plug-ins, and synths.
But the reason for this thread is to ask Tracktion to consider its early Waveform adopters and loyal upgraders who paid more and aren't able to enjoy these savings.
It think it would be a nice gesture on Traction's part to offer customers an opportunity to upgrade to the Waveform+ Pack from Waveform Basic for a reasonable price.
RIP Dave and Happy Holidays.

I think they should also extend the sale , i just download the thing few dayz ago and i have been struggling to really have time to go deep , i donwloaded also waverazor and biotek to test ...yesturday to find out that today the sale is over .....
it's not like those babies are fast to go around , Waveform need a little time to understand the workflow when coming from sonar ....same for those synths , it's like a minimoog lol
Sales others ... just gonna unistal stuff i didn't even had time to really play with ....

Same story here. I just got word about its existence some days ago. And since I have Cubase I did not intend to swap but get it to compliment it with the pattern generator, but I had some unstability issues that I wanted to sort out before getting it. Yesterday I was ready to buy it. Or so I thought when I saw it was bundled with some stuff and had to check that out as well.
Was it worth another 50 to get that softsynth as well? just now I was about to toss a coin and press buy when I discovered it was off sale Which totally threw me off the cart, 50 was reasoanble for a pattern generator, 99, not so sure... I thought the holidays lasted until new years eve... DOH! So I guess I will save that and maybe go full bonkers into choir library instead...

Exact , when i tried Biospehre , my wall gui was so slow , in studio one , and i dubugged it after one hour of test , it is because studio one was run in windows 8 mod compatibility (for old slate and softube stuff to work) when i switched to normal mode , biosphere worked smooth like in Sonar !! so i then tried it quikly but it was 4in the morning lol ... had same skinda issue with my waves plugoins , half a day to make it work !!
notice that at first i had dowloaded the full bundle (waveform + bioshere ect) then when i launched it 2 dayz agao , biosphere had zero presets !! so i had to demo biosphere on it s own , yesturday ....
Anyway , i continue my journey of going deep in concurences as a possoble plan B for sonar ,
so far stuff i really liked abou waveform (the short time i tried it) ::
1) alelouyah for the browser , tags , multi browsing ect one , if not the best around !!!!
2) powerfull object oriented approch (witch speaks to me)
3) powerfull routing freedoom
4) simple stuff but a per note color option in piano roll is super handy in fact specially for drum maps !!
5) takes management is really cool
Cons :
Some simple stuff have to be done via gymastic !! like
1)setting up a multimbrale (first time i had to google hard to find how to do it in a daw !!)
2)The input quantize is kinda off (and by the way to find it it was rok n roll)
3)The object inspector coulb be more smoothly layed out !! (the ability to have it small when bar minimised was already better and less cluttered)
4) why no icons in console view ? and why no support for bitmaps , only jpeg ect ...
5) no plugin renaming option in the browser
anyway , i was happilly surpirsed to see stuff that goes deeper than average in several areas ....

Haha! I was going to buy a bunch of stuff too, but now the sale is over ... Screwy, wouldn't you say? The top banner on the site said "Holiday Sale" stating no specific time period. Then they shut it all down during a weekday. Strange. Can't say I'm encouraged.
Moreover, I tried to get a support question answered before buying (this was two days ago) and they never replied, hence delaying (indefinitely now) my purchases.
Oh well, I'll stick with what I got.

Sorry you missed the sale, the email did say "Offer expires Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 11:59pm (PST)" but it seems this wasn't on the website. If you email support, they might be able to sort you out...
Bitmaps are a bit of an antiquated format these days due to their size. We support png and jpeg, do you have a lot of bitmaps lying around? Could you do a batch convert to png/jpeg?
Cheers! Dave
I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "multimbrale", can you explain a bit more? Maybe there's something we can be clearer on or improve workflow wise?1)setting up a multimbrale (first time i had to google hard to find how to do it in a daw !!)
What do you mean by "kinda off"? Do you mean the MIDI notes aren't actually getting quantised correctly? What setting are you using?2)The input quantize is kinda off (and by the way to find it it was rok n roll)
We'll be doing some work on this in the coming months.3)The object inspector coulb be more smoothly layed out !! (the ability to have it small when bar minimised was already better and less cluttered)
Again, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to as "console view". Do you mean the mixer? If so, I guess we just didn't think them as important as in the arrange view. No one has actually mentioned this in the last year so it's a fair request.4) why no icons in console view ? and why no support for bitmaps , only jpeg ect ...

This has been asked for a couple of time recently, I'll add it to the FR list.5) no plugin renaming option in the browser

I just found out about Traction 6 last night from a bedroom producer blog post, downloaded that. Then downloaded the Waveform trial and bought the ultimate collection maybe an hour later. Then found out there was a sale I just missed. No crying over spilled milk I guess. (No pressure, but WaveRazor would be a nice bonus, if support happens to feel bad about that) I don't feel bad, no complaints actually.
Waveform does everything I have ever griped about with Aurdor and Sonar in a very natural and immediate way. Rewire to Reason worked on the first try. The host is extremely light, and I can now load more Repro-5 units for instance than I could in Reason. Track Freeze, and clip freeze is genius. VST's and especially Jbridged VST's are significantly more stable. No trouble at all so far actually.
The modular approach is very sound design friendly, I have actually never walked into a new DAW platform and just knew how everything worked.
So far loving it. Good work!

Dave, sorry for sounding agitated earlier. I think you have great products. It's frustrating though, because I was quite interested and then disappointed. I'm entirely new to your brand; I certainly wasn't on your mailing list. ... Yet, I could have been a new customer had your site clearly stated to dates of the sale.dRowAudio wrote:Sorry you missed the sale, the email did say "Offer expires Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 11:59pm (PST)" but it seems this wasn't on the website. Thks Dave for the fast response , i appreciate , first of all you're talking about emails , but you supposed we get one
Also because Robin (Molten Music) review was really great ...
I really think you guyz could kill it with simple but effective stuff ....the key is to understand the fact that some new comers will have inevtily background in other daws in diffrente levels of professionalism ...
Since i know we can go deep with you guyz , i will be please to take the plunge ....
1) For the multimbrale thing , basically each time i try a daw i really start a project and juge several stuff : do i find what i need fast , do i have what i need , does it offer over stuff to accelerate what i need to daw , and extras .... in this case i only wanted to create a track with EZD drummer (midi) but route each output of ezdrummer to audio tracks , so at first i create the midi track , then audio track , set EZ drummer outoputs in the plugin and started to search for 30 min how to got those listed in my audo track input option (the logic i'm in) , to understand then that i had to create first a routing thingy (don't know the name) , drop ezd in and then route manually via virtual cables ect .... i understand that the routing is flexible and can be done once and saved , but an option of auto route all outputs availlable for a multibrale instruments when inserted is imho , a must workflow wise ...
2) The input quantize is not that precise , i don't have this issue in sonar and studio one , but in there , some notes are always off ... sellected if i recall 8th of beats , i don't know i don't feel it .....and i'm not bad at playing
3) Good news , basically , not to speak about myslef , but i give course (been at SAE and now at Abbeyroad institue) and i emphasis the fact that (to mystudent) the key for an artistic workflow is the fact to avoid any type of rationalism of a task , basically by mastering the tools and the process , you reach the goal of the task the faster as possible for being "in the instant truff" (this is what i call lol) , anyway , layout , gui , ect isn't an option , it's KEY .... some people , specailly dev are so exited by features witch i understand , that they tend to take those "maintenance" of apparence as secondary while those are just crucial ... the mood when you site down upfront your tool is crucial , the layout and logic of stuff is crucial ...the less our brain is in process the more it can focus on creation process ...so this leads me to icons also :
4) of cource anything that can makes me avoid for exemple reading ,is key , icons i have zillions , i typically don't even read track names ..
Icons are also exellent to remeber when i open a sesion and hear that sound i like , i konw where it comes from juts from the icons
In this in one looks i know wher my drums at, my mtron stuff , my play stuff, spitfire stuff ect ....
5) yep plugin renaming (permanent and session based would be great) , a real pain coming from sonar, i remeber back in dayz editing the windows registry just for that one by one !!!
Excuse the tipo and english.
Option for Metering would be great (type of metering and scale like choosing the range , i like to have full range for tracks , and last db's for buses to get precison reading) a master monitoring section with a monitoring fx section ala reaper (for stuff like ARC or sonarworks , taking of the equation when bouncing or exporting , as default by the whole app , not project only)
the last thing witch bloked me from start is the way i recored midi in overdub mode : i usually record kik + snare , hhit sotp , then after playing , i record HH then stop , play a little and ten record Toms ect ...each time in sonar a new layer is created , i can edit this one to taste and go on , all layers are editable and i hear all togetether , tis is not a comp thing where you have to select areas or a takes , we hear everything until you don't want ...other daws don't rpopose that , i'm testing samplitude and basically each take is the take - 1 + new recorded stuff , it's incrementing the midi data additioning each with the next one ... (like a record history) so if you guyz want to expand midi stuff : this could be great !!!
Thks again for your answwers ,and put us the promos back lol
By the way an inspector option on the left makes full sens it will aloows in a small foot print to have parts of the options verticaly layed out , easier to get versus that horizontal stuff on the low
Xray would be killa !! (ability to ake the plugin tranparent or go behind the main page for editing and calling them back like in sonar, i can understand why no one think it's worth of it , moving windows of pugin around easily make me loose 10 time the the time intsead of hitting on button to make the dissapera , edit and calling them again for editing them , with their layout on screen preserve .... in a full session , easily one hour lost if your on a heavy editing / mixing scneario wit a lot of plugin ...
docking option for plugins .....

I second this. I just found it on the website and was not on any email list. It is not world war catastrophic, but it sort of hurts when you spend some time investigating and it is snatched away cause you did not see the deadline. If you just extend this offer until 31/12 I guess you could get a few of us on board.

Well that's kind of the whole point. If it didn't have any kind of restrictions or annoyances there wouldn't be much incentive to pay for the full version...Jeezo wrote:So basically how long was the offer ?

FYI, there's a 30-day restriction-free, hiss-free trial you can use to evaluate the software. Hope that helps, Dave

Well snap, I baught it on the one day between the sales.... I'll check in with support.
