Yep, I was going to say, if they did it at some point, a likely way it could take shape is a Maschine Studio type of thing, a separate functionally expanded DAW edition of Maschine.

Or, as they probably would call it...

Maschine Schtudio

That should prompt another thread: which company should take over and resurrect Sonar in 2018?
Given the Windows Only aspect of Sonar, Microsoft themselves would seem like the ideal Suspect no?
They’ve been trying to appeal to professionals with Windows 10 and they even were scouting for audio programmers here a while back so it wouldn’t be too crazy. They certainly have more than enough money to pull of a purchase.
I don’t know, just speculating.
Maybe you are on to something. I remember reading somewhere that Cakewalk engineers worked closely with Microsoft engineers which helped to influence Microsoft to improve the real-time high definition audio capabilities of Windows (e.g. multi-core processing; WASAPI; etc.). Also, Microsoft got to witness how well Cakewalk integrated touchscreen capabilities into the Sonar software (which had been a big deal to Microsoft). Maybe the working relationship between the two companies was enough to make Microsoft consider an acquisition of Cakewalk's software intellectual property.
I belive in this forecast as well - Sonar is too good a daw to remain stuck away in a closet somewhere.

And MS is good choice too, in that they really need to understand the daw market and how nobody wants an everchanging system while working.

And limitation on plugincount and other things.

It would really serve so many purposes if MS took over.

It was on Steinberg forum how they are to make contact with MS on the plugin limitation thingy.

The fewer people really needing a PC today in the world of iOS/Android should really be taken care of in the best possible way. Soon it's just companies, gamers and daws that are mostly on PC still.

A quick question: what's the plugin limitation thingy?

Prediction: FL Studio 20 will be free. Image-Line's new revenue model is to mine for bitcoin and other crypto currencies while FL Studio is idle.

You hear it here first! ;)

Native Instruments gets some Cakewalk properties cheap when Gibson goes under. No, they don't bring back SONAR, but instead we get....

Projekt 5 and Kinetik
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

My prediction is that Scott /FL fans will post in most threads about other DAWs saying:

Did you know that FL can do this?

Bit like this year really.

Be nice if the bigger companies started doing a fairly functional version of their DAWs for free with at least one decent synth included, to encourage first timers and the developing world into music production.

Microsoft could be interesting, maybe they could save the music industry by forcing all soundcards to stop playing a track if the licence to own/stream that track isn't present on the user's network. Will they bring a great DAW to the Xbox so we can have gamers shout at us during collabs and start selling nice monitors by Dre for a tidy profit? http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 3&t=491164
Nova II, FL20+Fire, Sytrus, Transistor Bass, DUNE 3, Thorn, Viper, ANA 2 SynthMaster, Discovery Pro, Reason, SugarBytes, SoundToys, LION, TRIAD, Plugin-Alliance, T-Racks, AmpliTube, MODO Drum/Bass, iZotope MPS 2.
One Day: FLEXXX, Alpha Forever, Diversion 2

That already exists. My wish for 2018 is that all this crap DRM and their spokespeople would disappear.

Yes please! Much cooler (though not entirely accurate and not specific to music).
