Is Waveform really unstable with VST3s?

Hi.
I like the pattern generator in Waveform and think about getting it now when it is cheap. So I downloaded the demo to test it out and it crashed severely a few time when I tried to use some VST3 plugins like Izotope Iris2. Is this common, is it unstable?
Also is it easy to export midi and use the midi with another DAW?

I wouldn't say that it's really unstable. We'd need a much larger sample size to state something like that. I don't think I've tested with "Izotope Iris2" but I certainly have with a bunch of other VST3s and found no problem. Can you perhaps email a log file (and associated minidump DMP file if you're on Windows) to support@tracktion.com if you're experiencing crashes so we can take a closer look.
Yes, you simply click "Export" -> "Render to a file" and then choose "MIDI File" as the file type. You can then use the MIDI in other DAWs.Also is it easy to export midi and use the midi with another DAW?

Biggest problem T has with VST3's is it still won't support their presets.

Hi. Nice to have an answer
Well I tested that and some others like Halion6 and it totally froze up. So I was asking if it is a thing in general with VST3s cause I tried the older VST versions and they stayed alive.

I have the Waves Gold bundle. When I first set it up I ran it in VST3, and any plug in VST3 would crash the entire program (T7)....when I ran the plug ins in VST all my troubles were gone.

Hi Mark, are your vst's remembering the last preset / settings you used, when you re open an edit? My waves plugs (vst )seem to be going back to the default.Mark Swanson wrote:I have the Waves Gold bundle. I've had the same problem with Iris2 VST3. But it seemed to go away with v8.2.7. But maybe it just loaded the VST2 version. In the "Waveform Problem Plugins" at the top of this forum there are a few other reports of Iris2 crashing.
On page 12 and on of the same thread there's some discussion of problems with Waves plugins.

I use ozone, neutron, neutrino and vinyl VST3 from Izotope and never had a crash, however some specific VST3 are non-functional in waveform, you should try VST2 it's far more stable.GearNostalgia wrote: I like the pattern generator in Waveform and think about getting it now when it is cheap. Everything i've tried (Cakewalk Sonar, Reaper, FL Studio...) they all are more complex than waveform/tracktion so unistalled them because i prefer to use my time makings songs than learning to use a new DAW, but at the end we lost the time with waveform bugsGearNostalgia wrote:Also is it easy to export midi and use the midi with another DAW?

Actually I was considering not caring about the bugs and getting it purely for the pattern generator and exporting MIDI to Cubase for further work, but it seems like I took to long time to get to grips with the demo and the bugs and now the sale is over. And 100 bucks for just using a part of a program is a bit much so I guess it was not meant to be.rosesbyrosex wrote:I use ozone, neutron, neutrino and vinyl VST3 from Izotope and never had a crash, however some specific VST3 are non-functional in waveform, you should try VST2 it's far more stable.GearNostalgia wrote: I like the pattern generator in Waveform and think about getting it now when it is cheap. It's on sale at the moment. Parts of the website give the full price, others show the 50% off price. It's 50% off when you get to actually paying, at the moment.
