Haha, yes indeed, I was experimenting with the punch slider on a psy bass and got the snappyness of the charts. Even at max punch settings it is still quite usable and the effect gets quite pronounced the higher it goes. I might have to take a closer look at a real virus as I'm loving the sounds so far and some things are behaving pleasantly unpredictable in some areas, not what I'd expect. Might take a bit to get a firm grasp on this one. I hope there is a manual but right now its fun enough exploring.

Clicky is great. :)

I thought it'd be nice to upload a video showcasing some sound design from scratch with viper in case others would be interested. I'm still using the demo so I apologize for the noise bursts. I encourage others to give the demo a spin as its turning out to be quite a lovely synth and I've only logged about 20 minutes so far with her.

It's a first trial run but the results are quite good in my opinion. The synthesizer is done "correctly" and meets my anticipation. I invite you to make your own opinions however and give the demo yourself a try :)

Installed demo and jbridged... I can confirm it's working in both Maschine 2.7 and Cubase 9.5 without any problems.

It does sound really nice. I compared a few of the patches to comparable ones on my virusti. To my ears, there's a difference in depth that the virusti has over viper which tends to make for a fuller, deeper sound. But the difference is negligible to be honest. I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference in a mix (or care for that matter).

My two cents: Viper is a very nice and incredibly deep instrument. It's definitely the closest virtual instrument to a virusti that I've heard outside of virus powercore. Adam has done an incredible job in my opinion of capturing the vibe and sound of the virus. If you've been lusting for a virus but couldn't afford one, there's no excuse now :)

Testing demo here.

So far:

+ Lovely sounds. Sounds really good.
+ CPU usage is really, really low. Awesome!
+ FX seems to be good too - Reverb is so nice!
+ GUI/synth feels very responsive, no lag, no "heavy feeling", like Avenger has.
+ Sound quality
+ Did I already said the sound quality is awesome? :hyper:

+- First I thought that 89€ is expensive, as it is just a 32bit and win, but price is very good I think now. However, I already own your JP6K, so It would be nice to get some discount on this one :borg:

- When I change preset, CPU makes spike. It's always same, stays there like 1 second and then CPU meter return on normal 5%. Happen on every time when you change preset. Not a big deal I guess?
- Demo noise is way too loud and it comes way too often. :x
- Gui is ok. Could be little bigger tho. Something around 20-25% bigger.
- It would be nice, if we could change FX order via drag & drop.
- Some presets have little too much highs.

Some quick thoughts... Actually, that demo noise is super annoying. It's too loud and comes too often, that it makes not want to test Viper deeper and start to do sounds and so on. Please change it something better, like uhe. Quiet noise cracling randomly.. Or Rapid, 25min fully featured testing time.

But in overal, really good job, Adam. This synth is awesome and sounds super good and it is very low on cpu. Thumbs up, bro! :tu:

I was wondering why the plugin GUI feels a littlr bit blurry? Like really old plugin. Actually in comparison with virus ti (i know its stupid to compare GUI) it also looks a bit more sharper/clear like it uses higher resolution textures :-D

At long last!!

One push of a key and I instantly have this full and awesome sound. For everyone's who's never owned a Virus TI (me xD), this is definitely the next best thing and it's wonderful to finally see this instrument available to a wider audience. I think the best comparison is like what a previous user said and that it's more like a Virus D or the next model. It doesn't perfectly emulate everything about a TI, and legally it couldn't, but it definitely is close enough and it's unique features make it more of a unique synth than a 1:1 copy anyway.

Looking forward to seeing how/if the other TI features like the wavetable osc's make their way into Viper, but even if they never do, this is definitely a full-fledged synth and can be more than fun for a long time ^^.

I justed teseted this in Reaper 32-bit, and, sure sounds good. Reminds me a lot of Spire (no wonder, as that one was vastly "inSpired" by the Virus as well), while i found the sweet spot in Spire a bit bigger, in general.I don't know if i missed it, but, is there a way to set the amount of saturation? I only saw the option to enable the different types of saturation, but no way to set the amount. The unison also acts a little weird, as it seems to "delay" the effect of the filter, but, i'm not sure if the filters come "behind" the unison, or if unison means that the voices including the filters are being duplicated. The phaser is the one you already released as a sepearate plugin, i guess? Sounds great as well. :)

Just having a play and I really like it, it makes a very good bread and butter synth due to the very low CPU usage and sounds great.

Are there plans to add the TI wavetable oscillator beyond single cycles? I know that the wavetables themselves are copyrighted but it was one of my favourite features on the TI when I owned one.

same as is in Virus

from 50% osc vol. it adds saturation, https://www.dancemusicproduction.com/pr ... s-virus-ti it's a 5+hours how Virus is working session, Viper is working almost the same ...

Wow, so I can't believe I missed the whole unison osc section! Amazing... I went straight to the global unison at the bottom corner and missed the other oscillator settings at top. I thought it sounded pretty good at the global osc level alone, but with the unison oscs it sounds outstandingly huge. The unison is completely nailed in viper. Good job!

As such, did the video again :D Not sure If I will delete the other video since it also sounds good.

So what's going on with those virus wavetables? Anyone have a link they can share with the rest of us?

Also, please do something as soon as possible about that white noise. It is entirely too loud by 20db :o

My god...

I've been following this thread since it's beginning. (And religiously checking it). I'm so happy to see it's release. I can't wait to get home and try the demo. The youtube demos sound amazing. Great job Adam!
