The Precision Comp Limiter is based on the legendary Neve 33609 compressor found in top-level studios worldwide. Originally produced in the ‘70's as an evolution of the previous 2254 model, it quickly became a much sought after unit for many audio applications, including music recording/mixing, mastering, post-production and broadcasting. Its sonic character is not as aggressive as that of many other popular units of the same era. Nevertheless, the compression effect is clearly distinguishable.

I'm not entirely sure how much of a killer deal this might be, but I've been GASsing for a capable audio editor this week, and happened across a link for Magix' Sound Forge Audio Studio 12.5 for $39. It's a newer updated version of the old Sony software. Gets fairly ecstatic reviews, and includes Magix Audio Cleaning Lab and Ozone Elements, which is going for $29 these days.

It's apparently got a great workflow for detailed editing of a single track at a time, is 64-bit, and will load VST3, including in a rack. Supposedly, the noise reduction bits and the spectral cleaning are good. I'm hoping to use it to edit Reaper tracks, since the audio editing in Reaper feels really clumsy to me.

I can't do a direct link to the Magix website for this deal, since the only one I've found includes an affiliate ID. However, you can google for 'Sound Forge Audio Studio 12', switch to the Shopping tab, and find the deal at the second result down. I'm not sure, but it looks like the affiliate ID is just for Google.
