Oh no please somebody invent plugin bridge...

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

My gosh, this thread is depressing. The first actual Access Virus synth for the masses comes out and people are still talking about it being 64 bit like it's the end of the world. It can stay 32-bit forever for all I care since Jbridge works perfectly fine ヽ(ヅ)ノ
Enjoy your rest, Adam!!

Ah, but if only JBridge worked perfectly fine. I own it. It was one of the first things I bought 4 years ago and was told it was the answer to all my problems running 64 bit Cubase and all these wonderful 32 bit apps (HG Fortune at the top of the list) that I had.Shiek927 wrote:My gosh, this thread is depressing. Unfortunately, JBridge turned out to be a so-so solution. I still had DAW crashes with the constant "VST Connection Lost" issues. For a few dlls, JBbridge did work. For others, not so well. And with X11 (one of my favorite 32 bit VSTs) it doesn't even recognize it as a plugin. It is not a 100% full proof solution. Am I sorry I bought it? Yeah, since I no longer use it.
So no, JBridge doesn't always work perfectly fine.

Too small GUI?wagtunes wrote:This whole thing just makes me so sad. Great sounding, well designed synth that I can't use.
But seriously.. Why not switching to (for example) Reaper? Or Bitwig? I understand that if you've used Cubase for ages and know it inside out, it's frustrating to start to learn another DAW. Personally I just go with the tools that work.

So you own jbridge and won't even bother to try if it works?wagtunes wrote: Ah, but if only JBridge worked perfectly fine. I own it. You are crazy man. This synth is awesome.
Byebye Live 10 update. I'm going to stay with my Win7 32bit install just for this synth. And I own a Virus TI

Ahh, that stinks. I'm guessing it's the DAW? I'm using Ableton Live 9 and I can't say I've ever had problems with jbridge :/.wagtunes wrote:Ah, but if only JBridge worked perfectly fine. I own it. And i also own Virus Ti.stamp wrote:So you own jbridge and won't even bother to try if it works?wagtunes wrote: Ah, but if only JBridge worked perfectly fine. I own it. Perhaps you didn't read what I posted. I bought it. I tried it. It works sometimes.stamp wrote:So you own jbridge and won't even bother to try if it works?wagtunes wrote: Ah, but if only JBridge worked perfectly fine. I own it. I'm not going to buy Viper in the HOPES that MAYBE JBridge works with it as there are no refunds with VST purchases.

Why you don't try out it with the demo of Viper?wagtunes wrote:I'm not going to buy Viper in the HOPES that MAYBE JBridge works with it as there are no refunds with VST purchases.

Because I do not enjoy demoing VSTs that emit noise every 60 seconds. I have found with 32 bit apps and Cubase, it takes a good hour of straight use before I can be sure that the app won't crash my system. Sometimes it happens sooner, but in most cases, between 30 minutes and 60 minutes I'll get the "VST Connection Lost" message and have to reboot my DAW. I choose not to have to put up with an hour of demo noise for a 32 bit app that costs 89 euro (over $100) US when there are plenty of 64 bit apps available that I don't have to wrestle with.murnau wrote:Why you don't try out it with the demo of Viper?wagtunes wrote:I'm not going to buy Viper in the HOPES that MAYBE JBridge works with it as there are no refunds with VST purchases.
I hope this is a sufficient enough answer for you.

So you want 64 bit NFR license just to try it out?

Tried it in Live9 and it had issues. I don't know a reliable solution so i don't bother with 32bit plugins.Ahh, that stinks. I'm guessing it's the DAW? I'm using Ableton Live 9 and I can't say I've ever had problems with jbridge :/.So no, JBridge doesn't always work perfectly fine.
If there was a good solution, that could be an option for older plugins.
For new plugins, i consider it a mistake to release it in 32bit form as the primary release. I understand that it is the result of the used framework to develop the synth. I understand also as a programmer you prefer working in tools that you know.
But from a commercial viewpoint, I find it the wrong process. If i were project manager I would either hire another programmer or send the programmer to 'school' to learn a more suitable framework. Or let him do pair programming with a programmer that knows that framework so he can learn it at the workplace.
No disrespect intended. As i said: it's really well developed but (for me) the wrong choice of development tools.

Maybe Adam can modify the interval of the noise. Would be good for sure.wagtunes wrote:Because I do not enjoy demoing VSTs that emit noise every 60 seconds. Anyway, it's your decision but thinking pragmatical i would set it just on loop and looking after a hour if it's still running.

Like Bitwig or Reaper which runs the plugin (flawlessly) in a separate processing and if the app crashes, the DAW continues to work?
