Dear Friends,

Viper is finally out! All information and demo version is available at http://www.adamszabo.com.

Here is an introduction video:

Enjoy!

Old post:

After 3 years of hard work, its finally coming all together!
I will purposely not say too much, and I will amuse myself a few days until you guys try to figure out what its an emulation of. But I guess its pretty easy to figure out if you are familiar with the original 8)

Ok, you guys have suffered enough, I will give more info

First, lets get everyone's worst nightmare out of the way: yes its sad but true, its made with FlowStone. Yes it's sad but true, its PC and 32-bit only. Yes it's sad but true, it works in 64-bit perfectly fine (actually that's not sad at all, that's great!!!).

Now that that's off our shoulders, let me congratulate you guys, yes its a Virus emulation type synth, but with my own twists. I didn't manage to emulate every single feature but 90% is there. Viper also has a few things that a Virus doesn't have, like you can load your own single cycle waveforms (I knew everyone would be horny for that  ). Everything is custom written from the ground up, there are no stock elements or modules in this so no one should be scared away because its made with FlowStone. A LOT of time was devoted to optimize it to the max, while keeping a nice balance between cpu and a good sound. The gui was also done by me, I was really inspired the Ultranovas vst editor tabbed interface so I took some design cues.

Anyway, yes, initially it will be released as 32 bit for PC, but if there is a high interest and its worth my time and effort a port is not out of the question. Right now the goal is to release at least one version first. But I beg, lets not derail this thread with another bit and mac fight, lets keep it for this synth only. Thank you!

There are still things to do, but if all goes well it should be out before the year ends, in worst case at the end of the year. Pricing should be less than 100€ but it will probably be a two digit number. It wont be 20 dollars as someone mentioned just because its 32 bit, it has nothing to do with that. There is 3 years of real hard work in this, its not a toy :P

Here are more screens, please note that the different colored sections, the glowing lights, knob rings, leds etc, are the same for all tabs, you can choose a color for a preset just for fun. The default is blue but you can change it.

I wonder if he ment a port of 64 Bit or a port to MAC OS? :)

Wow I missed a big party :)

When I wrote my first post, I had no idea FlowStone 64 bit was being developed so I meant that maybe I can ask someone to help me port it to 64 bit, but thankfully I will be able to make the 64 bit version myself soon. Its not a question of "if" but "when".

And dont worry guys, I am not feeling bad or anything, Im just tired and exhausted, I need to take a break I dont want to think about Viper for a while, I need to play some video games I missed, and watch lots of movies :D

Enjoy the movies !

I'm glad you take it so sportingly as the discussion was sometimes a bit rough.

Congrats on a great synth and I hope it is a great success. Kudos on making a great gui (as well) as graphic design is often not the forté of a developer.

The arp is great stuff, always wanted sth like that, not easy to find in most of modern VSTs.

Please consider implementing an arp lock button for preset switching. In general locking parameters would be quite neat.

Those filter symbols (circles) on the left are a bit irritating as one wants to click on them as a shortcut for changing the filters - maybe you could make them operable?

"Here are more screens, please note that the different colored sections, the glowing lights, knob rings, leds etc, are the same for all tabs, you can choose a color for a preset just for fun. The default is blue but you can change it."

Why not color coding sections? At first glance I thought, "Nice, envelope section is blue, filter is yellow effects are red..." Helps navigation this thingy. :)

Not sure if I need that right now as I switched to 64bit, but I wish you all the best for a commercial success. :tu:

GUI gives a strong DIVA impression (which is not a bad thing at all). :D

On topic! I bought Viper and I love the sounds it can produce. I am only on 64-bit but I had jp6k for some years and it never crashed or hang in bridged mode. I had Viper since the release and so far I didn't even had a glitch. I had more "famous" and expensive plugins crashing in bridged mode, so this is why I trust the work Adam put into Viper. Well done Adam! I look forward to the 64-bit version of JP6K as well ;)
Hey, how about posting some audio demos when you get a chance.
I know this kind of music is probably not what you listen to on a daily basis :D ..but I made this little demo on your request. It's a short track starting out with every sound individually and then all together. I tweaked all the presets except one. Hope it can give a fair idea about Viper.

All sounds are Viper except drums and some FX. Only the internal reverb, delay, etc, of Viper was used for each sound.

Excellent sound! Well done!

I find it amusing that people think they know what I do and don't listen to musically. Just goes to show you that nobody here really knows me at all.

Nice track Wags. I must admit that I didn't expect that you to listen to most types of EDM, based on your sound design and soundsets. On the other hand, most musicians I know listen to a big variation of genres, including myself. I like anything from classical music, Heavymetal, Jazz, Blues, etc. Trance is also something I like and it's fun to make since I am on my own.

The reason I don't make EDM sets is because the market is saturated with them. That's ALL anybody makes. So I decided to cater to a different market. And believe it or not, it exists. No, I'm never going to get rich from it but it's a market that's been neglected by a lot of people.

Okay I have to give massive props for the preset SQ Mass Effect AS :D :D :D got so massive chills out of that as ME1 is no doubt the best game I've ever played (13 times through) :)

Sounds so good.

My main hosts are Live 9 Suite 64-bit and Cubase Pro 9.5 in Windows 10 64-bit and today I finally bought jBridge after recently having checked the demo of it.

So far in Live 9 64-bit the Viper demo seems to work nicely using jBridge v1.75, even with Unison and a bigger amount of voices used.

Fantastic!!

THIS is why I've been excited for Viper. It's got that tone that's inspired and been emulated so many times. Well done! :tu:

Btw Szabo if you find some extra time at some point, I'd really like to see that arp as an own plugin.. Could get alot of usage with my other synths :D

For a small fee of course.. 10€? 15€?
