Dang guys.

I have had FL Studio and, well, everything, for a long time now. But I am a Cubase guy. Not that I never use FL Studio. It is fantastic, but has missed a few of my workflow aspects.

The options and workflow are making me seriously look at this. Such a smooth work environment.

Well done.

FL is moving in a direction that I had often hoped it would, particularly with the workflow options.

Am I missing something in saying that it looks like one could stop using the Pattern Window and just use the Playlist Window in a very linear, 'standard' DAW way?

Because that's the main reason I stopped using FL years ago - I disliked creating patterns and using the Pattern Window in general.

Great job, guys!
Congrats to Beta3 improvements, finally happy to see some improvements in direction of more "linear and logical" workflow

No, it should be possible after this update...
Only restriction I am aware of: If you insert a pattern clip in the playlist, which is still empty, you cannot double click to open the PR editor... a double click would open the channel rack (pattern view)...
Every Pattern clip containing note data will open the PR editor, but for an empty clip you have to use F7 or the button in the tool bar

Ah, I see - thanks for the explanation - that makes sense.

Having to hit F7 or the button is a minor inconvenience, but I like the idea of being able to hide the channel rack and never need to see/use it. Again, that was always my gripe with FL, that there was this level of indirection in a sense - having to make a pattern first. Which, in a certain sense isn't that much different than other DAWs, where one creates a MIDI clip and then edits the clip. Except that with FL, the channel rack was required for clip management, a step that isn't necessary in other DAWs.

Ultimately I'm not sure I'll return to FL, as I'm pretty entrenched in my other DAW, but I do like what Image Line is doing - giving options and flexibility in workflow. And I still do love the Piano Roll in FL. Kudos to the IL team - they always bring so many new, cool things, and the free updates are great.

Nice one!!

When you change name and color of one of the instances (Sakura) wouldn't it be nice if the created automation clips changed name and color too?

It really does seem to be headed towards accommodating linear use, which I personally find easier to intuit and use. But the program was always perfectly "logical" considering it's starting point as a beat box.

That said, it's really nice to see the company taking it where it needs to go to compete with programs like Live and Bitwig for the hearts and minds of new users. And, embracing new developments such as a scaled interface and take it to the max. There are few entities in the world that can self-assess and deal with the need to change. Even fewer that can do so and retain the essence of what they are.

BTW, I'm not really an FL Studio user. I use something else, but I certainly appreciate their attitude and work ethic. Sorry for the soapbox...

Hi all,

Beta looks fantastic from what I have read about it and I am in between projects so decided to demo.

Anyone experiencing problems with the plugin scanner?

It does not seem to have the ability to remember effects vs synths unless I verify each plugin during the scan...which takes a WHILE!

Also, I am getting errors in plugins that do not give me errors in Reaper and have never given me issues in any other versions of FL Studio - EZDrummer 2 and almost all Izotope products come up with an error...even after reinstalling to test.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Also, some plugins are showing up as VST + VST3 and not allowing me to add them to list of selectable effects - Waves SuperTap is one of these. Most seem to be correct but not all. Waves seems to be an issue.
