Some of the sounds on their site are nice, the Logue Pad for instance.

i haven't had a chance to really delve deeply into the feature set or even demos ... but my initial impression puts me in agreement with those expressing disappointment about the price.

Fluffy your opinion is very biased because of your own needs. What most of us (wich is just few of us) is saying about the price is from global perspective in comparison with Prophet Rev 2, Deepmind12 :)

I wouldnt mind having this also, i actually think this is one of the more interesting analog synths released in the past years because it offers some very cool features like user shapes and patch morphing :) but even with those features when something like 2nd lfo is missing,i cannot justify when for same price there is Rev2 and cheaper Deepmind12 and if you make your spectrum of synths even wider, you can add System 8 wich sounds as good as analog :)

One would indeed be a bit limited, doesn't even seem to have a sine wave. The target selector is also a bit limited.
Maybe there is some deep edit mode under the hood 8)
No there isnt, here are the specs:

Oh dear that seems a bit of a Korg Pro lapse

Post

REV-2 and DeeppMind both have cheaper DCO design, and integrated circuits. Korg's design is discrete and has 32 VCOs. These things cost money.

Post

It would probably cost 3k to 4k if it were made in Japan instead of China. I think only the keybed is made in Japan.

:x One lfo? :dog:

I wouldn't totally rule it out but one lfo is very limiting.

It's funny that people complain about the absence of "real" analog synths, but when someone launches one, they complain about the price :hihi:

There's a reason why these cost so much - they are much more expensive to build than digital synths (Roland System-8). Now, let's see what Behringer comes up when they launch the OB-Xa clone.

Fair enough, tho to me DCO is still analog :) And if VCOs are so expensive shouldnt Minilogue cost nearly 1k ? :)

Post

Minilogue is 4 voices with 2 VCOs per voice (so, 8). Prologue has a 16 voice variant with 32 VCOs total, for slightly less than 4 times the price. It scales correctly.

Well it's a FLOP.

I've been patiently waiting for Prologue announcement. But at the moment I saw specs I felt disappointment there are only 1 LFO, only 2 envs, no mod matrix, limited routing, no sequencer, no nothing. Wake up Korg it's 2018 not 1979.

It's not a flagship or synth good for sound design.
Thanks god we've got choice on market: Peak, DM12 or P8Rev2.
Murderous duck!

Please don't turn this board into yet another Gearslutz and don't spread urban myths. VCO design cost few times more than DCO and it's like $5 instead of $2, may be $7 considering pitch adjustment system not like 100 times.

On Korg scale board with 8 vcos 4 filters delay and contorlling electroincs of korg minilogue cost around $100. That's exactly why they are able to retail for $500.

It sounds stunning!

Otoh the Prophet 6 has only 6 voices vs Prologue 8, similar features, and costs almost the double!

It's a completely false premise that there is a linear relationship between component cost and production cost/sale price as you are suggesting here.

I'll be eagerly waiting for your 16 voice analog polysynth at $500 :hihi: (oh, and while you're at it, please include the Xpander/Matrix-12 filter). I'll even pay you an extra $100 for that and a modulation matrix.
